Sauzai's Hamlet

Everything was spot on. We couldn't have been happier. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. The hosts were delightful and verg helpful.The location was great with the beach, shops and restaurants within easy access.

We had a very relaxing stay at Bretignolles. We loved the property, it was clean and comfortable. The garden was a perfect spot for soaking up the sun. Being able to walk to the beach was a real bonus. Our hosts were very welcoming and we managed to communicate despite our language differences. We would highly recommend this property. Perhaps clearer instructions as to the position as we did have some difficulty finding it, but this was a minor issue.

We had a great stay at this comfortable house in September 2017. The house is very well-equipped, spotlessly clean and well maintained. We decided it was one of the nicest houses on the (small) estate, and probably had the best view. You can tell the owners use it and enjoy it, as there were lots of extra touches like 2 adult bicycles to borrow (great cycle paths along the coast), and useful cookware in the kitchen. We slept in the mezzanine bedroom and loved the light and airy space, and the sea view. We even stood on the balcony at night and could see the Milky Way and millions of stars, which was really special. The other two ground floor bedrooms were a good size with generous storage/wardrobe space. It was useful having the toilet separate from the shower room, although it could have used a hand-basin in it for convenience. The shower was great, loads of hot water at a constant temperature. We had good weather so were able to use the loungers and admired the very pretty garden, which still had lots of colour and humming-bird moths buzzing around. Parking was easy as the house has a space under cover by the entrance, which would be especially useful in hot weather. La Sauzaie beach itself is more for surfers as it's mostly rocky, and would be unsuitable for swimming, but there are spectacular beaches along the coast in both directions, so you're really spoilt for choice. We did enjoy wandering in the dunes behind though. Our only minor niggle was the lack of wifi, as my phone struggled to get any signal in the area (not just at the house). Luckily the supermarkets and most towns gave you 2 hours free wifi so we had to look up any tourist info when we went there.
