Sitting on the terrace of the house you can look out onto a stunning and fascinating landscape: facing you is a lava flow from one of the most recent volcanoes (only 7000 years old !) of the Parc Regional des Volcans d'Auvergne. Here you can also observe buzzards, kestrels, red kites (perhaps even a short-toed eagle). From the plateau above the house you can see the Sancy mountain range which includes Mont Dore and Super-Besse where we ski.

Fantastic holiday in a beautiful location - very well equipped house with everything you could need for a holiday. The house is a good size - we were a family of 5 so were in luxury! The games room was a big success with teenagers more used to xbox over the last year - table footy, pool and darts - several fun evenings! The massive selection of dvds and books for all ages meant that a rainy day wouldn't have spoiled the holiday.
We brought our mountain bikes and found some good trails locally- www.sancy.com is a good source of info. We also had lots of fun at super besse - cable car to the top for a walk as well as hiring bikes/ helmets etc to bike down on marked trails. It was very fun! Swimming in local rivers, exploring markets and just chilling made a week too short!
A lovely part of France to explore with lots to do and a lovely house with a big garden to relax in.
Fabulous!

We enjoyed a relaxing 2 weeks in the Auvergne. The house was perfect for 2 families with plenty of space and was really well equipped. The owners Jan and Tim have gone to a lot of effort to think of everything you may need to make the most of your stay. There's plenty of crockery and cutlery, TV with French and English channels, loads of DVDs and books and lots of info on attractions around the area, two of the bedrooms are ensuite and the beds were very comfy!
The views are stunning, and it was amazing to be in such a peaceful location with only cow bells and crickets as background noise! A 20min drive will take you into Besse, a beautiful historic town with shops, cafes and restaurants, also nearby we enjoyed Super Besse with lots of outdoor activities, and Lac Pavin with a lovely woodland walk.

The house was great and had lots of space. The children loved the games room full of books, DVDs and board games. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, even 2 raclette machines! Our hosts had lots of good ideas for places to go and things to do because they know the area so well. The swimming lake was lovely and we did the horseshoe walk around Puy de Sancy.

Lovely spacious house, well-equipped for all ages with helpful owners next door. Fantastic area for road and mountain biking, with a huge choice of well signed graded MTB trails within 30-minutes drive. The house is also well located for mountain walks, swimming in lakes, inflatable aqua parks (in the lakes at Super Besse & Lac Chambon), and canoeing down the Allier. We would love to return.

This property is so well equipped. We could not have asked for more. My children loved the attic and games rooms and we had so much space. The pictures on the web site do not do justice to the amazing views.
Tim and Jan are amazing hosts, they were so helpful and friendly when we sought advice but also gave us privacy. Thank you.

We enjoyed a wonderful half term break at Maison Laporte skiing and exploring the local area. The house was exceptionally well equipped and presented. We were made to feel very welcome by Tim and Jan- whose local knowledge and experience was also very useful. Our two children loved the games room; we all loved the views, space and peaceful location. Access to cross country and downhill skiing is straightforward even after snow falls as the local roads are kept in good condition- would recommend winter tyres though. Would love to return in the summer to see more of this under-rated part of France. We would definitely recommend this property to other families.

This is a really lovely looking house which is incredibly well fitted out. It is warm and homely and has a play room that we all loved, children and adults alike, with darts, table football and more books and dvds than you can shake a stick at. Jan and Tim are kind. helpful and good fun to drink a bottle of wine with if you invite them for an evening :-) It's a great size house and for our two families gave plenty of room without feeling as though you're rattling around on your own. Everything was clean and pretty and I would recommend this to anyone. You do need a car as it is into the countryside. Nearby is Super Besse, a ski area that works as a a brilliant day out for families with lots of fun activities to do in the summer.

We loved our stay at Groslier. A comfortable, spacious and very well equipped house in picturesque countryside. The owners' family had lived in this property for sometime which I suspect explains why it has everything you need - beyond what you would expect from a holiday rental property. The games room, top floor playroom and sitting room are excellent for families but there is also enough separate rooms for those that need space for their own company. The stairs might cause problems for very young children or the infirm.
The area is beautiful with plenty to do outdoors (we were there in Summer in what is primarily a ski resort but that wasn't a problem).
The location is quiet and peaceful - the only draw back being that it is some way from shops and restaurants.
A first class property!

We were seeking a bolt-hole to explore the Auvergne region and Groslier proved to be the ideal choice. We had a party of 4 adults and 2 children and the property was perfect. As soon as the boys discovered the attic room they took it over, despite being allocated a downstairs bedroom. The immense library of DVDs left them entertained all week, along with the games room. The main reception room features the kitchen, dining table and lounge area, giving it a very sociable aspect. Add to the mix the breathtaking views outside and you have the recipe for a great holiday.
Our hosts, Tim and Jan, were very hospitable, striking a perfect balance between not intruding but being on hand to help.
We look forward to returning!

This is a jewel in the massif central and puys region. We stayed in the house with 4 adults and 6 children and it was a very positive discovery. The house is extremely well located in a beautifull region, close to ski resorts and the mountains. Beautifull walks can be done from the house. The house in itself is very comfortable: stove, open view, three bathrooms, charmfull furniture, two large playrooms for the kids with hundreds of books and films, a pool table and babyfoot. And last but not least, Jane and Tim, the owners, are very friendly, helpfull, and welcoming. We will come back for sure.
