About this villa rental
La Bruguera is a unique forest estate for retreats, holidays, and team-building events or gatherings.
Fully-modernised from 2015 – 2019, it was built between 1978 and 1981, for Catalan landscape painter Francesc d’Assís Casademont “Le Vieux”, a friend and contemporary of Salvador Dalí’s.
The Main Villa sleeps 12 people across 6 bedrooms, all with heating and air conditioning. There are 7 bathrooms, including a walk-in shower, two baths, and two en-suites. There is an additional apartment, "El Taller", available on application as a paid extra, with 3 additional bedrooms with heating and ceiling fans. There is a spacious kitchen with equipment to cook for, serve and seat up to 20 people, including two ovens, two dishwashers, an American-style fridge freezer, a microwave, a Jura coffee machine, and a wine fridge. There is a laundry room with washing machine and dryer, a utility sink, iron and ironing board, plus recycling bins and a compost bin.
Ecological cleaning, washing and beauty products are provided and we encourage their use in order to protect the natural septic system. There is a large dining room that seats 20 with views out to the gardens. The gardens boast two outdoor dining / meeting spaces, a gas BBQ, a lawn for outdoor yoga, a saltwater swimming pool (fenced for safety), small ponds and a Mediterranean kitchen garden, and an art gallery featuring work from our artist-in-residence.
Towels for bath and pool and bed linen are provided. Rooms will be ready for guests before arrival. All beds can be made into king-sized or singles. So each room can be used for couples or individuals, depending on the group's requirements. There are 2 cots with bedding and 2 highchairs available.
Check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am. We ask for 150 euro security deposit which will be returned at check-out.
The property is gated with a secure pin access. We greet guests on arrival and provide access codes and keys. We live and work on-site 100 metres from the villa. So we are available to assist if required.
La Bruguera runs on 100% renewable energy.
There is a yoga studio / meeting space available at an extra cost. The yoga studio has mats, bolsters, cushions, blankets, straps and blocks for 20 students. The studio has a separate toilet and bathroom with shower. There is underfloor heating and a portable air-conditioning unit, if required. The studio / meeting space is double height with a mirrored wall, skylights and wall-to-wall sliding glass doors that lead out to a cloistered fish pond.
Other activities to do at La Bruguera or in the area: We provide environmental education experiences and masterclasses. We can recommend local chefs who specialise in 0km, seasonal, zero waste, vegetarian and vegan, macro-biotic, etc. We can recommend musicians, and providers of specialist services / activities including soundbaths, forest bathing, foraging and cooking wild foods, hiking on the Costa Brava, guided cycling tours, massage, etc. We have a database of cycling routes we can share plus a curated list of places to eat and visit.

Wow, a fantastic villa in a beautiful location. The hosts, Mike and Michelle are brilliant and are on hand to offer advice on the best restaurants in the area. The villa has everything you'll need and a very good pool.

We had an incredible time at La Bruguera. Secluded in a peaceful pine forest, the eco-friendly Villa blends in with nature to provide an unforgettable experience for our family of 12. We found the house to be furnished with pretty much all the equipment, AC, appliances, and toiletries one could need. There are so many different indoor and outdoor secluded spaces that everyone got to enjoy many fun and relaxing meals and moments throughout the day.
Mike and Michelle, besides going above and beyond accommodating any questions we had, are wonderful hosts to chat with. Their tips on procuring produce from the local markets, and recommendations for visiting nearby sites and restaurants added so much to our week in the area.
We'd recommend the stay to any group or family any time!!

The property was excellent, with every facility for a luxurious stay. It had a good-sized, well maintained pool; a high standard of accommodation; an exceptionally well-equipped modern kitchen; and a lovely, extensive outdoor area with several places to sit in the shade and enjoy it.
We were extremely fortunate in our hosts, who responded promptly to every request for little extras such as beach umbrella and ironing board, and with advice about technical details in the house.
There was a very good supermarket within about 10 minutes' drive. And our hosts gave us recommendations for the beaches, and the various great restaurants nearby.
The hosts were next door, which added to this convenience, but their presence never interfered with or impinged on our privacy.
Overall, we could not have had a more enjoyable stay, and would not hesitate to recommend the property

We had a peaceful 10 night stay at this house in August. Good location to serve as a base to explore local beaches and other things. Lovely little restaurant in neighbouring village. Good countryside runs out of the gate. Well kept garden with space to explore and play. The interior has lots of space too and had everything we needed. Air con in half the bedrooms. The owners have a wonderful veg patch with lemon trees and cats keeping you company. We were given a few vegetables when we arrived. Several outdoor eating areas although bring your mosquito spray. The pool was a highlight, clean and warm and fenced.
Just a few things to note for prospective guests: the owners live onsite adjacent to the pool, it’s basically a large house split in two - one side for the owners and one for guests. In research I read the owners lived “on the estate” so was not expecting them to be adjacent and as near. As long as you are okay with this it wouldn’t be a problem but we could hear them in their house when we used the pool area. I think it’s important to know this before booking.
Also, I would recommend to the owners to upgrade the blinds / curtains in bedrooms or to guests - bring portable blackouts as although the views are spectacular, they start early in the day!
In conclusion a peaceful countryside home shared by the owners for holidaying guests.
