About this villa rental
Villa Agathea is ideally located in Cap d'Agde beside the golf course and near beaches, restaurants and shops. The villa is an entire house (2 storey) with its own private terrace and gate. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and includes a full size cooker with oven, air fryer a dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and even a washing machine. Everything you need and more is there.
There is WIFI in the house which is included in the price.
Upstairs there are 2 separate double bedrooms and a separate WC with wash basin and bathroom with bath/shower and wash basin.
There are very effective mobile air conditioning units and fans for summer and for out of season there is electric heating and portable fuel heater (odourless).
The villa boasts a pretty terrace which is fully enclosed with a high locking gate. There is an electric barbecue, outdoor table, chairs and sun loungers with covers. There is also an awning for those hot days.
There are 2 swimming pools in the residence. One small shallow pool for children and a larger pool. As the beach is so close, the pool is never over-used.

Ground floor has living room: 2 sofas, coffee table, smart TV connectedto the WiFi Modern kitchen well equipped includes: full size cooker/oven, Tall full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, coffee maker, microwave, washing machine, plenty of crockery, cooking utensils and glassware. Portable air conditioning unit and fans.
Top floor: two tastefully furnished bedrooms with double bed in each - hair dryer provided. Bathroom with bath/shower and cabinet with mirror. WC with hand wash basin separate. Fans provided for those warm evenings.
Additional single bed can be provided on request at an additional cost.
Sheets and towels are provided and are included in the rental rates.
WIFI is in this property and the price is included in the rental rates.
End of stay cleaning is also included in the price.
Tourist tax (tax de sejour) is included in the price
Electric Heaters upstairs and downstairs and in addition an odourless fuel heater for out of season times (odourless fuel not included in the price)
Terrace is fully enclosed and very private. There is a an electric barbecue, outdoor furniture for al-fresco dining and sunbeds. In addition there is an awning, parasol and clothes line and a shed in which you can put your suitcases, etc..
VILLA LOCATION: This villa is located in one of the smartest areas of Cap d'Agde - Richelieu. The name of the street where it is located is Rue Volvire de Brassac. It is very centrally located within minutes to shops and restaurants and only 15 minutes walk to Centre Port.
The nearest shops are located within 5 minutes walk from the villa and include a bakery, Spar supermarket, butchers, newsagent and chemist.
Lidl supermarket is 7 minutes walk from the villa.
Larger supermarkets such as Hyper U and Intermarche and a larger Lidl are situated in Agde which is 5 minutes drive.
Centre Port is 15 minutes walk from the villa.
BEACHES
Plage Richelieu is the nearest beach and is only 15 minutes walk from the villa. It is a beautiful sandy beach. I would recommend "Plage du Golf". The facilities are very good.
SWIMMING POOL
There are two swimming pools in the residence exclusively for the use of guests (access by badge provided).
There are many restaurants dotted around Cap d'Agde Centre Port. One of our favourites is Rhum Steak (42 Quai de la Trinquette, 34300 Cap d'Agde). You will always receive a warm welcome from the owners. It is situated just opposite the yachts. Highly recommended. Good food and very good value.
There is also a very nice restaurant situated in "Avant Port" called "Papy's grill" 3 rue de l'Estacade, 34300 Cap d'Agde.
NEWLY OPENED CASINO BARRIERE 2019. There is a very stylish restaurant within the casino and it serves until very late. The food is excellent.

This is a compact house/cottage/gite, in a gated community of maybe 100 similar properties with a back yard/sun terrace. There is a 150 metre walk from the car park to the property, with several sets of steps which makes getting the suitcases and heavy shopping in a bit tricky, but if you want security and peace of mind it is worth it. The property has everything you need, but the stairs and bedrooms are a bit tight if you have mobility issues. As for area, there is a bakery, fruit shop and chemist 5 mins away and a Carrefour 7 mins. Hyper U which is a large supermarket is 10 mins in the car and has everything you could want. Locally there are fabulous cafes and restaurants around the marinas, and beaches with lots of parking. South of France without the glitz of the St Tropez/ Monaco region, we felt really comfortable here.

I loved the fully utilized kitchen and fully enclosed garden terrace. Lots of privacy. We did have to take a lot of steps with our bikes every day, up-down-up-down to get to the cottage or to the road. But it was doable.
It gets quit hot inside during the day as we were there in August , so we used the mobile airco unit a lot. I would have appreciated the same on the top floor but I’m probably spoiled.
You do have to know that in August the Cap is very busy with tourists, so there are busy roads in the neighborhood. But everything is within walking distance so you don’t really need your car!
I loved the property and the care that the owners give you, before-during and after your stay (by mail). Thnx Sandra for a lovely holiday!

The instructions for entry to the complex were misleading but the owner has taken on board our comments. We are four 70+ travellers and we found the bedrooms small. There was little room around the beds which made it awkward to get in and out. The shower over the bath was also difficult to use. However, we really enjoyed sitting in the courtyard and eating our meals out there.

We made our way here using public transport from Beziers airport. It is doable but involves a walk of approx ten minutes to the property up a slight hill. A car would obviously make this easier.
The property Is a good base for exploring the local area and the more well known places such as Carcassonne and Montpellier.
We were blessed with glorious weather during our stay and spent several days on the nearest beach, Plage Richelieu.
The shops, bars and restaurants of Cap d’Agde are now pretty much closed until next season but there were a few still open. There is a good HyperU not too far away which has a good restaurant.
The old town of Agde is worth a wander as is the walk up to the Ronde lock to watch the boats on the Canal.
Overall the property is quite basic and a little out of the way but it has a well equipped kitchen and the couches and bed were all very comfortable.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in the South of France.
