We had a mostly positive stay at Ikarus Coco Homes. The apartment is actually a spacious studio, with a very fresh, recent renovation and everything essential for a comfortable stay. The biggest advantage is the large west-facing loggia, which offers spectacular sunset views every evening. The apartment is located in a small residential complex perched directly on the cliff in La Paz area, with completely unobstructed views over the city, the ocean and the sunset. The location is also convenient: a bus stop serving several routes, including a direct bus to the airport, is only about 4 min walk away. There is also a swimming pool in the residential complex, available to guests from 8:00 to 20:00. The pool is in a separate gated area and the key is provided with the apartment keys. Check-in is completely remote and was straightforward. You receive access remotely by code, and inside the apartment there are two electronic keys for opening the main door. We were also able to arrange an early check-in between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., which we really appreciated, as the apartment had been vacant the night before our arrival.

There are, however, several important drawbacks. 1) No air conditioning or even a fan. We understand the idea that Tenerife’s climate often makes air conditioning unnecessary, but this is not really the case during hot summer months. In July and August, sleeping with the windows and loggia closed can be extremely uncomfortable. We had to keep the loggia open, but the cliff directly overlooks a motorway, so traffic noise significantly affected our sleep. There is also a small bay directly below the cliff: the sound of waves is lovely during the day, but at night it can be quite loud. We strongly recommend that the management at least provide a fan. 2) No dishwasher, which was a significant inconvenience for us. For us, part of a holiday is being able to cook without having to wash dishes after every meal. 3) No washing machine in the studio, although there is one in the basement. The host provides laundry capsules, which is appreciated, but each wash costs an additional €3. 4) No oven. There is only a microwave. We had planned to cook fish and seafood, including baked fish, so this was a real disappointment. 5) No information provided on possibility of arranging additional cleaning. As we stayed for more than a week, this would have been a useful option to know about. Even if cleaning is available at an additional cost, we think guests staying for longer periods should be informed about this possibility. 6) You should also be prepared to purchase basic consumables separately: toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, coffee filters, spices, cooking oil, etc. These are apparently not provided unless previous guests happened to leave them behind. 7) Last but not least: we had our personal data exposed during the online registration. Before arrival, we were asked to submit our passport details and other personal information through Avirato, a platform used by some Spanish accommodation providers for guest registration.
