We had such a wonderful stay with Ana and Ruben at Titicaca Posada del Sol on the Uros Islands. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like part of their family rather than just guests. The accommodation is simple, cozy, and authentic, with beautiful views over Lake Titicaca. Waking up surrounded by the peaceful floating islands was an unforgettable experience. Although the nights in July can get very chilly, the rooms have heating and hot water, making our stay warm and comfortable. Also, plan to stay 2 night at least if you can. If you have only one night, please don’t go to Taquille, just enjoy Uros and the surroundings and spend some time with the locals. Ana’s home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious and gave us the chance to try traditional local food, while Ruben was always happy to share stories about the Uros people, their culture, and how life on the floating islands works. There is no Wi-Fi and no TV and honestly, that’s part of the magic. Instead of staring at screens, you reconnect with nature, the local culture, and the peaceful rhythm of life on the lake. One thing to keep in mind is the altitude it can take a little time to adjust but the coca tea and their warm hospitality certainly helped! If you’re looking for a luxury hotel, this isn’t it. But if you want a genuine cultural experience, kind hosts, breathtaking scenery, and the opportunity to disconnect from the modern world while connecting with local life, we couldn’t recommend Titicaca Posada del Sol more highly. Totally unique experience, we felt like we were in another world. Ruben and Anais are lovely and we’re attentive to all our needs. We had a delicious breakfast each morning and homemade soup in the evening. The cabin is cosy , with a very comfortable bed. It does get very cold at night but once you are in bed it’s warm. Ruben provided a heater. There is a hot shower available. The journey under the stars across the lake at night was unforgettable, really special.

Nothing but you need to understand that this is not a luxury hotel but a totally amazing and unique travel experience

This stay was truly magical. Ruben and Ana are wonderful hosts who care deeply about their guests, and go above and beyond to make the stay an unforgettable experience. The cabin was perfect, cozy, clean and very comfortable. The gas heater was a big plus, and so was the hot water in the shower.

Ruben and Ana were the kindest humans. So accommodating, friendly and open to showing me their way of life. It was truly the most unique experience I had during my travels through Peru. The bed was super comfy, hot water is available for showering and a space heater for extra chilly nights. The daybed was so serene and such a lovely way to acclimate to altitude and nap. Ruben connected me with a day trip to Tequile which was equally as unique with beautiful views of the Bolivian Andes. The lake trout was delish! Ruben's brother took me out one evening to show me some of the practices for maintaining the islands and a flock of flamingos flew overhead. Such a magical place I highly recommend making this a must stop.

I appreciated everything about my stay. It is a bit of a haul to get to but so worth the trek. If you are seeking culture and a unique experience and have an open mind...please book!
