Stunning 1 Bedroom Apartment in Central Sheffield

Cleanest apartment I have stayed in for a while. High marks for that. Well-equipped and everything apart from the TV worked. The key collection system was very good: I was called, sent a text message and then met by a pleasant and helpful member of staff on arrival, but I would have liked to have understood that process before, or immediately after, I booked. It took a while - and several back-and-forth messages (which to be fair were answered immediately) - before I had a clear picture of how the check-in was going to work in practice and I felt confident about it. Nice to have the iron and hair drier, good to have tea and coffee and milk. The electric fan in the bedroom was a very welcome touch in the heat!

I didn't like the online registration system which in my opinion asked for an excessive amount of information. The automated system generates a lot of correspondence, but not a lot of useful information. It also contacted me with 24 hours to go before arrival to tell me I hadn't completed registration, but that I could ignore the message if I had. It made me a bit nervous. I was also not particularly happy about discovering the extra £100 returnable deposit after the initial booking. The apartment was smaller than I anticipated and in a noisy location due to proximity to a main road and roundabout. The location was not the owner's fault, obviously, and I should have thought about this earlier. Had to keep the large sliding window closed to suppress the sounds of traffic. The ventilation system switched on almost as soon as I arrived and there were no instructions on how to use it or switch it off. It wasn't particularly loud, but it was a constant background noise. I appreciate apartments like this need ventilation, but perhaps this particular system requires a service. I wasn't planning on using the wifi, however the password for it wasn't shown anywhere, as far as I could see. The online apartment guide was poor - there seemed to be missing pages. That was where I would have expected to find the wifi password and info on the ventilation system. The TV worked, but would not connect to a channel - again, it wasn't something that I was planning to use anyway, but it joins my growing collection of hotel and apartment TVs that don't function properly. I think overall, the owners might have a look at their pre-and-post booking system, especially the information aspect, because at the moment it takes the edge off the overall experience.
