It's a beautiful, well-kept, clean place, with a beautiful sunset.

I liked everything.

We loved Giorgi and his staff, they were all really helpful and friendly. The pool was a great size and shape for swimming and/or playing, and the private cove was great for safe swimming and snorkelling - plenty fish to see as the water is so clear. There were plenty of loungers and space to relax, with a well stocked bar. There were amazing views from the room, which was spacious and comfortable, with everything you'd need to make your evening meal. However, we ate out most nights, getting takeaways delivered in on the other days. It's a great location if you want a quiet spot to relax, with the self catered facilites but if you want to get out and about to see Crete, I'd suggest a hire car.

While we loved the location for the quiet, relaxing days of our trip, but without a car it required a bit of planning to get out and about. Buses were infrequent and not usually on time and taxis got expensive going in and out to Chania (although Giorgi's team were more than happy to help organise them - given we don't speak Greek). Walking to the local shop and bus stop is fine as the roads are nice and quiet, but going futher away from Kalathas on foot, along the main road, wasn't ideal with no pavements. While located under the flight path, the commercial planes didn't bother us too much, but there seemed to military operations going on while we there, meaning a lot of louder planes, which was particularly frustrating late at night and early morning - but I don't think that is typical.
