Paz House

By renting a house at Paz House, you have the opportunity to experience the real local atmosphere and Portuguese way of life. Paradoxically, this may not suit everyone. The idea of local island life and the reality can be quite different. The house is located on a hill, and access is via narrow, winding, and steep streets. This has its undeniable charm, but it also requires some driving experience and a reasonably capable car. A Seat with a 1.2 engine handled it without any problems. Even though I consider myself a good driver and have driven across half of Europe, including many trips to Italy, Spain, and Greece, I personally decided not to park directly in front of the house. It is absolutely possible to do so, but it is more convenient to park on a nearby street and walk about two minutes to the house. Don’t worry — everyone parks there, and you will not get a ticket. The house itself is spacious and offers two bedrooms with wardrobes, a large kitchen, a pleasant living room with a dining area, and a bathroom. Everything is in good condition and fully sufficient for a week-long stay. The only downside is the lack of a washing machine — for longer stays, some hand washing will be necessary. Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and the TV is connected to a device that allows access to various streaming platforms (provided you have your own accounts). The key collection and return process is very well explained and does not require any contact with the hosts. The hosts themselves are very kind, respond very quickly via Booking, and communication with them is excellent. During our stay in January, it was very cold, and a heater was provided, which significantly improved the situation. I also needed to sew my backpack and simply asked where I could buy a needle and thread (which, surprisingly, is not that easy on Madeira). Shortly after, I received a message saying that a needle

Por decir algo quizá vendría bien un calefactor para el baño, ya que nos tocaron días fresquitos.

Location: only 15 mins away from Funchal, but in a nice quiet neighbourhood. Lots of room and cozy house with everything you need. Kitchen well equipped.
