A little gem

The staff were absolutely amazing, nothing was too much trouble, and everything dealt with, with a personal touch. The rooms were of a very good standard and beautifully decorated. The mattress and pillows were superb, some of my best nights sleep. The meals in the restaurant were of excellent standard and reasonably priced and I would highly recommend eating there. Will definitely be visiting again in the future

The only slight downside was there was no-one on site during the night, but in respect to them, there were measures in place, should someone require assistance. It definitely wouldn't stop me visiting again and again.

Lovely place to stay for our downton abbey experience.

All staff were lovely, room very comfy and well maintained. Entertainment during our stay which was enjoyable and respectfully finished by 10pm.Very good quality, poached eggs were spot on and good selection of fruit juices, cereals etc.

Such a stunning place, loved the whole experience

One of the best property’s I have ever stayed in. Such a warm cosy welcoming and gorgeous decor. The rooms are beautiful and the bed is very comfortable. Staff are super friendly and very accommodating. The breakfast was stunning as well as the food we had on the evening. Overall a gorgeous stay and are already planning to come back.

Atmospheric tavern stay, good base for the Cotswolds.

The perfect, super friendly and welcoming nearby tavern hotel for friends or family to stay, if you have too small a house! Ellie and the team are very friendly, welcoming and are happy to answer any queries. Decor suits the building and village. The crafts/food market on the Saturday morning was an added bonus.

For clarity, we travel frequently and are regular users of hotels. I would rate this property highly with the cost balanced with the experience, The hotel is in a beautiful part of Oxford. The staff were friendly & helpful. Check in & out was quick and easy. Our room was spotless and comfortable. The hotel is on the main road in the village but the speed limit is very low so there was little to no noise on the street. Breakfast was good quality.

Lovely renovated pub and rooms, authentic style, very friendly and accommodating staff. The breakfast is so delicious as well!

If I had to say something, the floors of the bedrooms are slightly wonky so would not necessarily recommend to less mobile/unsteady people. Totally understand it is an older building though and to be expected - not a complaint from me but just for others to be aware!

Great place to stay

Staff were very lovely, nothing rushed and very pleasant atmosphere. Food at dinner very good as was wine which was recommended. Would definitely stay again. Room was lovely, top floor small but very comfortable.

I’d really like there to be summer duvets in late August - rather than winter duvets in attic rooms that are warm, even with fan and open windows, just a suggestion not a complaint

Really lovely place. Very friendly staff and the smoked salmon at breakfast was some of the best I’ve ever tasted. I stayed in the single bed small room which was so comfortable and more than enough space for a nights stay. Highly recommend.

Bed was very comfy, staff were excellent and very friendly, breakfast was delicious and overall an excellent stay!

We went when it was 30°+ and it’s an old building, so no air con (wasn’t expecting this anyway). There was a fan in the room and we were told they could’ve found us another if we’d wanted one, but we just made do coupled with an open window! It’s not the property’s fault it’s an old building though and it wasn’t unbearable, just a tad warm :)

Perfect stay at the Market Tavern, exactly what we were looking for!

We loved staying at the Market Tavern in Bampton! Sean greeted us, checked us in and helped with bags. He also made sure we had a dinner reservation which we appreciated. Sean was especially helpful & all service and staff were excellent! We walked the Downton Mile which was our main purpose for staying in Bampton. We drove to Highclere Castle for our tour, which was about an hour drive. But I'm so glad we chose to stay at Market Tavern in Bampton for two nights. We loved the coziness of the Market Tavern, totally enjoyed sitting in the lobby for drinks too!
