Pletts Seaside Gem

Het is een heerlijk, licht en ruim huis. Het is van alle gemakken voorzien, de bedden zijn zeer comfortabel en er zit een ruime tuin rond het huis. Je kan parkeren op eigen terrein.

Het kan koud zijn in huis in de Zuid-Afrikaanse winter. Gelukkig waren er veel dekens.

This property was one of the highlights of my group of five’s Irish lads trip. Plett is a great town and this home offers you a full home in turnkey condition. The facilities of this house were second to none and we needed for nothing. Staff were very nice and beds comfortably slept 5 grown men. Highly recommend and also very safe.

The best thing about the property was the location. Close to beach and central to restaurants, supermarkets etc. The swimming pool was an asset and was kept clean. The living area was spacious and comfortable and the indoor braai was good. We also enjoyed the outdoor dining area although it was surrounded by scruffy fencing where you could see through to the next house. Also handy having a garage. When issues arose generally they tried to assist but we gave up in the end as there were quite a few. Plenty of good quality towels.

Overall the property felt a bit tired and unloved and immediately we arrived a glass door fell off a cabinet. It would have been nice to have had an information pack. The garden could be lovely but I had to ask for the grass to be cut as it was starting to look like a field and also the plants needed watering. We did not meet the hosts only communication was on WhatsApp which made me wonder if they were hands on with checking the property. There were people close by who cleaned and looked after it and overall they did a good job but if you looked closely it did need a more in depth clean. Water is scarce in the area but we wasted so much water getting the shower to temperature and keeping it there. The only dishcloth provided had to be binned as even after washing it still smelt and there was only 1 very old tea towel. The kitchen was not really a kitchen it was a very strange arrangement. The cupboards were filled with so many casserole dishes, chopping boards and various things that we would never have used but no proper saucepan. We had to ask for more mugs which were delivered promptly. There was also very little room to put food as the cupboards were full. The washing machine worked but made a dreadful noise. The bedding was changed several times but unfortunately some of the sheets and duvet covers had some staining which is always noticeable when they are white. There were no hooks on doors to hang up towels and dressing gowns in the bedroom or bathroom. There was no air conditioning and the weather was very hot so it was uncomfortable at night. The living room only had one ceiling fan over the dining table which was not enough for the size of the room. The property is probably normally rented out for short stays when you can overlook issues but as we were there for 2 weeks it had more impact and wasn't satisfactory.
