Pension La Roata

La Roata is within walking distance from the centre of the town, its cathedral and market. The train station and the bus stop are both nearby. I also walked to the lovely Museum of Ethnography in Gura Humorului. I had read that La Roata is located slightly uphill. Yet, it is a short walk, and the slope is not steep. You can also drive there, especially since there is a parking area, too. I chose the house called Anastasia. However, each house is charming, 90-120 years old, beautifully decorated inside, so every choice will be a great one. The modern accommodation looks lovely on the outside, too. The entire area is generous enough, and there is enough private space regardless of the accommodation chosen. The inside of the houses looks exactly as in the photos on Booking, only better in reality. Everything looks valuable, and a massive treasure meant for a museum. I found water in the fridge, which was a nice surprise. Also, good tea (Fares), and coffee. The bathroom was clean, spacious. As for the shower, I left the right part as it was, and the water was ideally hot. The garden is full of flowers. I enjoyed walking around in the large garden. Breakfast was delicious, with whatever your may prefer. I arrived 10 minutes earlier, still I could enter the house. The owner replied to my text messages in a polite and welcoming manner.

The property is beautifully designed like a traditional Bucovinian village, with old wooden houses relocated and restored with care. You don’t just stay in a room, you feel like you’ve stepped into a different time, but with all the modern comfort you actually need. The rooms are spotless, warm, and very well maintained. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, perfect if you want to disconnect a bit.

The entire place is built like a small, traditional village, and it doesn’t feel staged or artificial. The wooden houses, the layout, the little details — everything feels thought-through and genuine. The room was very clean, cozy, and surprisingly comfortable given the rustic style. You get that old-world charm without sacrificing basics like good heating, a proper bed, and a quiet night’s sleep.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Roata. The room was nice, the breakfasts were excellent, and Ramona's suggestions for places to eat in the evening were good too. And Ramona kindly showed us round one of the old traditional houses.
