Cala Arena-few steps from the beach

We recently stayed at Cala Arena apartment in La Cala de Mijas and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the location is excellent — just a few steps from the beach and very close to shops, restaurants, and everything you might need. It’s incredibly convenient for getting around without needing a car. The apartment itself is well-equipped, with useful amenities like a washer dryer, oven, and other essentials, which made the stay comfortable from a practical point of view. The roof garden is also a lovely addition, offering a more open space to relax and enjoy some fresh air.

However, there are some notable downsides. The apartment is quite small and lacks natural light, which made it feel a bit enclosed — almost like being in a bunker at times. The outdoor space was also disappointing. It’s very small, doesn’t get any sun, and the canopy blocks what little light there is. The plunge pool, while a nice idea, felt uninviting and took up space that could have been better used for a more functional seating or dining area outdoors. Overall, I would recommend this apartment if location is your top priority, as it really is hard to beat. Otherwise, if you’re looking for space, light, and a more enjoyable outdoor area, it may not be the best choice.

Amazing location, exceptionally clean and very secure from both the exterior and interior hall of property re CCTV. Lock box entry and instructions super easy to follow. Brilliantly safe and comfortable for a solo traveller.

Appreciating it’s a relatively newly available rental, a minor issue was the key/door suction sticking but this was resolved within 10minutes of reporting via WhatsApp and a rep attending site.

La cama era de 1.35 para una pareja se queda pequeña. Las toallas eran súper pequeñas y para 4 dias tendrían que ofrecer cambio, teniendo en cuenta que estás en la playa y se ensucian más
