Location was great being so central and close to the train station

Nothing really just stay longer

I like how close to Cardiff city centre the location was, and just a minute from a humungous shopping centre. It was just minutes from the Victorian Arcades and Cardiff Market, and very close to Cardiff Castle. The train station was a 5 min walk so you could go further, like Caerphily Castle was about a 15 mins train ride and then a 5 min walk from there. The staff are fantastic, helpful and very friendly. I loved having the use of a fridge freezer in the communal kitchen for the dorm I was in.

They had to change my room as the boiler had gone in the first one I was allocated, and I had 3 cold showers. Luckily the weather was stinking hot. The second room had hot water at the basin, but not in the shower, and the shower needed a plunger to unblock. So, I had a further 3 cold showers before this shower was fixed. No apology or compensation was offered. When I moved to the second room, it had not been cleaned prior. There was a mark on the desk of the ring of a coffee mug, and there was residue of some kind of sticky, clear food substance. I cleaned that, the bathroom sink and the toilet when I got there. I left the room cleaner than when I went in, as I also wiped it all down again when I left. One of the rules was to wash your own dishes, but there were no dishes and no cleaning materials to let you do this. I bought my own bowl and cutlery to use (took them with me when I left), and a kettle (which I left for the students). I also bought dishwashing liquid, kitchen wipes, a scrubber/sponge, a bottle brush and a tea towell. I left them the wipes, dishwashing liquid and the scrubber/sponge, but kept the tea towell and bottle brush in case I need these for my next stop. I also cleaned the kitchen after I first bought these as the benches were filthy.

I enjoyed having an ensuite as i like having my own bathroom. I enjoyed how friendly and informative the staff were with any questions i may have or any information they needed to tell me. Overall facilities and the pricing really outweighed the cons i had about this place.

I did not enjoy the bin system downstairs , i had to take my rubbish to the bin storage but it was simply too gross for me to deposit all of my rubbish into the bins due to the massive amount of flies that were there , however i told the man on the desk that thats why there would be rubbish remaining in my room and he seemed understanding about it.
