Kirkinezi consists of 3 renovated traditional houses in the village of Drymonas in Kythira. The house we stayed was exceptionally renovated, with very tasteful finishing touches. It was also adequately equipped for a multi-day stay. Kirkinezi's garden was a feast of the senses. Views as far as the eye can see and a multitude of herbs and flowers made morning coffee in the garden a great start to the day. Ideal location, very quiet and also close to the Chora and most of the island's main attractions and lovely beaches. Last but certainly not least both Simoni and Vicky were excellent hosts and made us feel welcome and comfortable from day 1. They always had great insights for our itinerary and helped us get to know the island and its highlights. We had an excellent time in Kythira and Kirkinezi and its wonderful people were part of that experience. Hopefully we will see each other again.

Kyrkinezi isn’t just a place to stay, it feels like borrowing a gentler version of time. The village is so quiet that silence becomes part of the architecture, wrapping itself around the stone houses and your morning coffee. The little church of Santa Marina stands there like the heart of the village, humble and picturesque, reminding you that beauty rarely needs to raise its voice. There is a special kind of magic in the atmosphere here. Even the breeze seems to know it’s on holiday, wandering lazily through the lanes with the scent of thyme and the clouds. Days stretch, thoughts slow down, and you begin to remember that life doesn’t always have to rush somewhere. If you’re looking for nightlife, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for the feeling that the world has quietly smiled at you, Kyrkinezi has mastered that art.

Nothing worth mentioning. Unless you’re determined to complain about the dangerous possibility of forgetting what day of the week it is, or finding yourself lingering a little too long in the quiet of the village, watching the little church of Santa Marina hold conversations with the changing light. Kyrkinezi has the rare talent of making urgency seem like a bad habit. The only real downside is that eventually you have to leave and the rest of the world feels unnecessarily loud.
