EDELWEISS VILLAGE

Haesler Sr. is one of six historic Swiss chalets spread throughout Edelweiss Village, a 50-acre mountainside property overlooking Golden.

Each chalet is a standalone building with generous space between neighbours, creating a sense of privacy that is difficult to find at traditional hotels, resorts, or condo complexes.

Guests have access to:

• Walking trails throughout the property
• Traditional wood-burning sauna
• Forested green space
• Incredible mountain and valley views

Travelling with a larger group? Multiple chalets can be booked together for weddings, retreats, family gatherings, and special events.

ABOUT GOLDEN

Golden offers the scenery of the Canadian Rockies without the crowds of larger resort towns.

Surrounded by mountains, rivers, and national parks, it offers easy access to incredible outdoor experiences without the crowds often found in larger resort destinations.

THE LEGACY OF CHRISTIAN HAESLER SR.

Christian Haesler Sr. was one of the pioneering Swiss mountain guides recruited by the Canadian Pacific Railway to help introduce visitors to the mountains surrounding Golden. His passion for the outdoors and contribution to mountaineering helped establish the region as one of North America's great mountain destinations.

Today, guests can stay in his former home, thoughtfully restored to blend its 1911–12 origins with modern chalet comforts.

Please note that construction is in progress on the property and may continue through the end of September. All efforts will be made to keep noise between 8 AM and 8 PM.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
• Free parking is directly at the chalet. Additional parking is available throughout the village.
• Pets are not allowed.
• Smoking is strictly prohibited.
• Self check-in is available via secure door code.
• The chalet is multi-level on a hillside with stairs — guests with limited mobility should plan accordingly.
• Golden's downtown core is less than 5 km away.
• The sauna is a shared village amenity and requires time to heat before use.
• This is not a ski-in/ski-out property.
• Please note that the fire pit is currently unavailable — outdoor fires are not permitted until further notice.

RESTORATION UPDATE

Edelweiss Village was acquired in 2024 with a commitment to preserving and restoring this remarkable piece of Golden's history. While restoration work continues in select areas of the property, guest stays are rarely impacted.

Beautifully renovated historic chalet. Easy check in. Well plowed snow in mid winter. Comfy beds. A few areas to improve include thermostats in bedrooms. First floor has forced air while bedrooms don’t. Bedrooms only have electric baseboards with knobs indicating 1-10, not a temperature. Unfortunately this cost us some sleep as we could t figure out how to get a comfortable temperature. Otherwise A
