The Purple Rain room features contactless self check-in with smart locks. Each room has it’s own private bathroom and shower, AC/heater, and fridge/freezer.
Complimentary coffee is available in the lobby and there is also a microwave, iron, and hair dryer for guest use.
20-30 mins to downtown and Tampa Intl Airport 15 mins to Busch Gardens 5 mins to USF/Moffit.
Escape to Portal Gardens, a working aromatics farm and agritourism retreat in the heart of Tampa. The property also features a pavered patio area with a POOL and HOT TUB, covered pergola, outdoor living/dining area, and covered grill area. The pool and outdoor areas are open access 24/7 but please be respectful of others. Outdoor areas are shared with other guests.
Guests are invited to wander our 1 acre grounds, featuring rows of aromatic herbs, peppers and citrus. Experience the 'Seed-to-Sip' life by harvesting fresh herbs for your morning tea or evening meal. We just planted this spring so please bear with us as we grow!! If you're interested in learning about aromatic pairings to relieve stress, boost energy, or improve concentration, feel free to ask us for our Aromatics Guidebook. During harvest seasons, aromatic sample pouches are provided to guests to diffuse in their room or their morning tea. Pre-paired aromatic pouches are also available for purchase.
Hot Tub Reservations-If you’re looking to relax, we’d love to help you get the hot tub ready! To ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy, we have a simple reservation system in place:
- Booking Your Hot Tub Session- Rate: $10 per hour (helps us cover the heating costs while also keeping our room rates low).
- Daily Requests: Please send us your preferred 1-hour time slot by 5:00 PM each day. This keeps any 1 guest from buying up all the Hot Tub time.- Open Booking: After 5:00 PM, any guests wanting to book more than an hour can do so on a first come first serve basis.
- Planning Your Dip.
Because the heating controls are managed remotely via an app, a little bit of "lead time" helps ensure the water is the perfect temperature for you.
- Heat-up Time: It takes about 1 hour in the summer and 3+ hours in the winter.
- The Bonus: You only pay for your actual soak time—the heat-up time is on us

It was a lovely stay, the property manager is more than accommodating and worked with us in length to make sure we’d not only be able to check in early but that we’d be able to get rest before an event that evening. Fantastic service. I think our only gripe is that the property was a tad confusing outside — it IS in a neighborhood and appears to be a very large house, but the landscape was a little unkempt. With a little yardwork and decoration, I feel this place would be an absolute haven. Inside, absolutely stunning and our room was inspiring— I wish every room had a theme for a musician. The showers were hot, the privacy was perfect, the purple rain room was a fabulous surprise for my beloved. All praise to Mike and his efforts here and I can’t wait to come back.
