We really enjoyed our stay here. Brilliant location, really cleaned and well designed. Roof top pool is stunning. Lots of sunbeds and seating on the beach. Friendly staff.

Review — Ana y José Hotel, Holbox (6-day stay) When we arrived at Ana y José Hotel, we received a warm welcome. The staff speaks English and Spanish, and one of the hosts even speaks French, which was very appreciated. The hotel is brand new (opened in November 2025) and very clean. Breakfast is included, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for peace, quiet, and a beautiful beach, this hotel has a great location — especially for sunsets. It is, however, a bit far from downtown, so transportation planning is helpful. A special thank you to Juan and Miriam at reception, and Sergio and Irving at the restaurant, who provided excellent service and truly helped make our stay perfect. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning, and it was very good. I especially loved the avocado toast with egg and their green juice, which was excellent. We didn’t get the chance to try other meals from the restaurant, but if they are anything like breakfast, they must be great. There wasn’t a large variety of fruit at breakfast, but fresh fruit (mango, kiwi, etc.) was provided in the room, which made up for it. Every evening, someone came by to leave us a small dark or white chocolate, a simple but lovely touch. Housekeeping was available twice a day if needed, including cleaning the sand from the floors and preparing the bed. For activity bookings, the reception team takes care of everything. You simply tell them what you’d like to do and they organize it — bike rentals, the bioluminescence tour, and more. The charges are added directly to your hotel bill, which makes everything very easy. Another highlight was the DJ on the beach during sunset, with great music — relaxed, not too “party”, just perfect for ending the day. One recommendation: rent bikes, or for families, a golf cart/ATV, because walking 30 minutes in the sun can become difficult. We definitely recommend this hotel and would happily return.

We got the ocean view room which was very nice and tidy, with real good view of the ocean. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

While the property itself is beautiful and the atmosphere is relaxing, there were several "hidden" aspects and service inconsistencies that made the high price tag feel a bit unjustified. ​The Arrival & The "Fine Print": ​Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly with a cool towel and a beer—a lovely gesture, though in hindsight, it felt like a way to soften the blow of the unexpected taxes. Be prepared to pay $15 per person, per night in environmental fees and taxes. It’s a significant extra cost that adds up quickly. ​The Room & Amenities: The rooms are lovely and well-maintained. Housekeeping does a great job with daily cleaning and a thoughtful evening turndown service. However, for a luxury-priced hotel, some details were missing: - ​The "Coffee Trap": You are only allowed two coffee pods per day. They stock more in the room, but they don't tell you at check-in that you’ll be charged for them at checkout. It felt quite petty. ​- Missing Basics: Our room only had one bathrobe for two people and no slippers provided. ​Dining & Service: ​Breakfast: The menu is good, and the fresh juices are a highlight. However, the service is slow. We ate there three times; twice it took over an hour to get our food, and once it took 45 minutes. ​Lunch: The food is decent, but very expensive. You can find equally good quality at restaurants just a short walk away for half the price. ​Staff: Generally, the team was very pleasant and friendly throughout our stay. ​Facilities & Location ​Beach Club: The location is great—further away from the main town center, which is perfect if you want a quieter vibe. However, there is an issue with guests "claiming" sunbeds with their belongings and then disappearing for the whole day. It’s frustrating when you actually want to use the beach facilities you’re paying for. ​Rooftop: The rooftop is quiet and offers beautiful views. Surprisingly, the bar and kitchen area there were completely unstaffed during our visit, which felt like a missed opportunity for a sunset drink. ​Ana y José is a nice hotel in a great location, but the experience is dampened by slow service and a "pay-per-item" feel regarding coffee and hidden fees. If you stay here, enjoy the views, but maybe head into town for your coffee and lunch.
