La petite maison

The property had been recently renovated to a high standard and the beds were very comfortable. It was well equipped and there is a lovely patio in the garden with table and chairs and a sun lounger. It's not far to walk into the village where you can find a grocers, a cafe and a restaurant.

It's 300m to the recycling bins which might be annoying if you are staying a while.

Niets, behalve dat in het plaatsje en in de dorpjes in de omgeving geen leuke restaurants van enig niveau waren te vinden

We had a very false start that caused a lot of stress, see below. After that was resolved and we finally could settle in, it was a nice stay. Mezieres is a nice village with a great bakery and a good supermarket. Also a nice bar in the square. The house is very spacious, clean and comfortable. It has a huge garden. The kitchen is well stocked and there is coffee, tea, sugar and milk. Also basics as oil,vinegar, salt & pepper. Comfortable bed & good bathroom. It is near the maison de la nature, best place for birdwatching.

1. We had a huge misunderstanding. The house has two doors and the door left is the one you need, but that was hidden. Only the door right was visible and there was a keylock. After a long day of travel we couldn.’t find the key. That was an issue but it became a problem and very stressfull because the owners did not respond to the messages in booking and did not answer their phone. We phoned many many times. Only after 3,5 hours they phoned back. We had already rented another room, because we did not know if we had a place to stay for the night. The lady was working and did not have her phone. She came to the house and the key was finally found. They refunded the first night. When we finally got our luggage and groceries moved and settle in and let the stress go, it was a nice stay. The house is nice. The misunderstanding and non-communication was very stressful. We think that they will want to avoid this in future as well. Our tip: make a very clear check-in instruction with foto’s, so this misunderstanding never happens again. 2. Two days for our arrival we got a message that they do not provide towels in the bathroom. As we were already travelling we had to buy them. Tip: the intermarche super in chatillon sells towels. Why they do not provide these is a mystery. There are bathmaths and everything. They even provide coffee and tea etc. 3. The knives and forks were of a very poor quality and many were already broken when we arrived there. Invest in better cutlery. The equipment, pans, plates, glasses etc. were all good quality.
