The Canny View at Three Lochs Holiday Park in Balminnoch 3 bedroom sleeps upto 8 guests

Lovely, quiet setting with views overlooking the Loch. End caravan with lots of grassy open space at the side for the kids to play. Nice walks straight from the site and plenty of activities to do on site including, swimming, golf, inflatable water park, horse riding, mountain biking, a park, skatepark and free indoor softplay area which the kids loved, right next to the bar and restaurant. We were reasonably surprised at the quality of the food, pub food done well with a lot of it homemade and not just warmed up. Good location right between Newton Stewart and Stranraer, 15-20mins in either direction. A short drive to Glentrool and the heart of the Galloway Hills. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and spacious with a usable veranda with fairy lights, although the midges stopped us enjoying this space into the evening. Smart TV with all streaming platforms available with decent WiFi, although seemed to dip dramatically on an evening.

As mentioned, the WiFi was at times quite slow, but was only on an evening. Expected however in such a remote setting and with 3 young boys and their devices. The gas oven in the caravan is really poor and won't get to temperature, so don't go with any intentions on cooking. On the 2 occasions we attempted to cook it took over 2 hours for something which should of took 20mins and we had to finish it all off in the single drawer air fryer. Not ideal when trying to feed a family of 5. The only other issue we had was with the boiler as we had no hot water without having mess about with the boiler each time we wanted some, which we didn't realise for the first day. To be fair though our hosts notified us of an issue with the boiler the day before our stay and were really helpful and responsive when we had the issue. There aren't a lot of options for eating out, pubs or cafes etc in the area, but this is somewhat expected. I was expecting more though from Newton Stewart where options were very limited.
