Adventure Haven Walk to Trails & Brewery

Very close to what we needed to do.

First day found a pair of men’s boxers behind the bedroom door which I gingerly put in the garbage.

Easy entry, just a door code

Very comfortable cottage with nice furnishings and amenities in an incredible location—less than 5 minutes walk to beautiful trails, food trucks and breweries.

It was pretty great—the space directly in front of the cottage was too small for our car, but there was good free parking very nearby.

We loved the area! Quidi Vidi itself was beautiful, quaint and so peaceful. There was a micro brewery and food trucks at the wharf for places to eat, and a very nice artist studio shop for browsing and shopping. The views are spectacular with places to hike and a trail around the beautiful Quidi Vidi Lake. The neighborhood was a charming treat to come home to. The full kitchen is stocked with teas, coffee and condiments. If you want milk or cream for your morning cuppa bring some with you, or be ready to go for groceries. The bus stop into St John's is not far up the road and picks up every 35 minutes or so. We discovered a great local Supermarket called Belbins, a similar distance as the large supermarket but independently owned and a local favourite. Both about 25 minute walk.

We arrived late with no vehicle. Generally this was not a problem, but be prepared, there is no cafe, convenience store or breakfast place at Quidi Vidi. The breakfast place, Mallard Cottage, is closed (website says until 2026). Where the map says food market, it is just food trucks at the wharf and is not open early. 25 minute walk for the nearest groceries. For the accommodation itself, getting into the front door was hit and miss. The entry keypad was sensitive and tricky to use. Sometimes it worked first try, but just as many times it did not and we were stuck outside trying to get in. This was frustrating and a known issue. The host, management company? was not proactive when we messaged. It was not fixed during our stay. Expensive for a rustic redo. The space was comfortable but quirky and could use some care, especially in the bathroom. Be careful not to stub your toe on the step in the middle of the living room. The accommodation is on a narrow curved road with no sidewalks. Most of the traffic slows, but be cautious.
