Tricky Trees Sunset Bungalows

The location was good and the bungalows and the property itself are very cute. The staff were also very nice despite not being the best at speaking English.

When I arrived, the shower and toilet were completely exposed. I don’t just mean it was outside because this is fine for me. It was the fact that when I showered you could see my reflection in the bathroom door so whoever was in the accommodation behind this one could see me. Luckily I asked the guys at reception for help and they put a sheet up to block anyone being able to see in but I was quite shocked that it was Just wide open. Also, I think it’s hard for them to control since you’re on an island but there was gecko poop scattered around the room and making noises in the walls until there was shaved wood from the bungalow on the floor.

On opposite side of island to the port, which I liked. Quieter side of the island. Great facilities, great communication - easy to hire a bike.

The breakfast was a bit of a let down for me. Opted to try nearby cafes instead.

The shower had no pressure and the bathroom facilities were old.

Our room was the only bungalow located on a top floor, making it more private and providing a lovely outside deck. However, people with mobility issues should be aware that the stairs are very steep. The bed was wonderfully comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly, always keeping the desired room temperature. The staff were great and thank you to Elsa for letting us do an early check in and giving an awesome list of recommendations!

There were several problems with the room, which explains the overall poor score. The main one was the bathroom, the running water would disappear intermittently, for example during a short shower it went away twice. In general the water pressure was bad, difficult even to wash away sand. There was also occasional cigarette smoke coming into the room, maybe from the open space in the bathroom to the outdoors or the ventilation, but was very unpleasant. There was only one available electric outlet for the whole room, which was clearly insufficient for two people who don’t even carry many devices. And even the one outlet couldn’t hold the weight of one of our adapters. This could be easily solved with one extension cord (we didn’t remember to ask for one during our stay). Despite the large window there was not much light coming into the room, due to the outdoor deck (which was lovely, nonetheless). Even with the electrical lighting the room was poorly lit. Additionally, the room door was difficult to open and close due to an issue with the keyhole
