About this house rental
Small and tidy dog-friendly cottage on the canal:
For those of you who are looking for a place where all the furniture is new and everything matches, this is not it. Instead, we have a boat dock, 3 kayaks, and an outdoor shower and grill. A public boat launch is just around the corner (Please contact me if you wish to launch a boat. I will have to get a permit for you.). We also have a deck for outdoor dining, gathering with friends, reading a book, watching the birds fly by, or fishing and/or just watching the fish. Our house has a renovated kitchen and bath upstairs, along with 2 bedrooms: one queen and one double. There is another bath downstairs (connected to the upstairs with an outdoor staircase), with the laundry and an extra bed (twin). The downstairs room was a golf cart garage but is now a multi-functional room. Both the laundry and twin bed are elevated due to water fluctuations in the canal, so a step stool is available! But guess what?! You are right on the water, and that is lovely! AND, more to the point, a short drive of 1 mile gets you to the the beach (Gulf of Mexico) and all the sand, shells (maybe) and saltwater you would like!

Learn about aviation at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, or about locomotion at the Galveston Island Railroad Museum, which has some of the largest restored exhibits in the US. Be sure to stop at the Pleasure Pier for carnival games, or check out The Strand Historic District's shops and restaurants.
Visit Moody Gardens, a nearby amusement park with educational exhibits and varied attractions, to see an IMAX movie or watch the fish in the aquarium. For an authentic ride, take an hour-long cruise on the replica Colonel Paddlewheel Boat. There's even a golf course where you can book tee times!

A sweet home perfect for a little salt life getaway. We enjoyed the stocked accommodations and close amenities for groceries and coffee bar. Canal was fun for kayaking and dock fishing.

Our only issue was learning when we arrived not to set the air conditioner lower than 72 degrees as it could freeze the unit thus making it ineffective. We routinely set our home air conditioner lower than 72 degrees without issue. Thus, our comfort level was affected. It is fine for the owner to request a minimum low thermostat temperature; however, this information should be included in the description so the decision to rent can take this issue into account. The only other concern was the lack of kitchen towels. Only one towel was provided. We inadvertently used it to dry our hands so of course we did not want to dry dishes with it. Providing additional kitchen towels would be nice.Otherwise, it is a very cute home convenient to the beach. It is attractively decorated. The upstairs shower (only shower) is wonderful - the water pressure and the size. The kitchen is adequately stocked with cookware, utensils and dishes. Bring your own sugar/salt/pepper/spices if you plan to cook. The open kitchen has a spacious peninsula with 6 barstools, and the retro kitchen table is very cute. The covered porch overlooking the canal is nice both in the morning and evening. The owner was extremely prompt in answering questions before we arrived and checked that we could access the home after our arrival. The key was easily obtained. The internet worked well. We would rent again as long as our adult daughter who likes a cold home isn't with us for the trip!

Nice place in a great location - perfect beach get away for us! Had a great time downstairs fishing from the dock, kayaking, relaxing upstairs on the patio, and at the beach (had forgotten how much less crowded and more sand there is to drive/play on)! Everything was convenient & was a very relaxing atmosphere - in proper Texas fashion ya get the standard beach vibe birds, but ya may also hear & see the cows in the pasture near by. Beyond how clean & nice the place is - it seemed to have everything we forgot to pack & had everything needed to support our cooking. The downstairs spare room with a restroom was great while we were hanging out fishing & made a nice spot to store my electric cooler. Tip; take a right and the store down that road is best for shopping and the bait store down that way was great too (minnows were awesome for night fishing).

We come to Galveston fairly often and this home, by far, was our favorite! The properties always look bigger in photos but this home was surprisingly larger than it looked online. The location is perfect and peaceful. The decor is so tasteful and lovely. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. My children loved being able to fish and use the kayaks so much that they would have rather spent our entire stay at the house, rather than leaving to explore or go to the beach. The house smelled clean and the host provided more pots, pans, utensils, etc. than any other rental we have stayed in. Everything was so carefully labeled so no time was ever wasted in finding what we needed. The host communicated quickly and efficiently which I truly appreciated. We will be back again soon!!!
