Thaimueang Bliss

We loved Thai Mueang as a place to relax. The cottage was in a great location, just a road back from the beach, with a little shop opposite - super handy for buying essentials. It was comfortable and the air con worked. The owners were very helpful and responsive and sent suggestions of places to eat/visit.

BUT the bathroom really lets the house down. When we arrived, the shower would not drain, so I unclogged it - it was full of hair, which was a bit grim. The floor is covered in pebbles, with stepping stones, which was quirky on first inspection, but horribly unhygienic the moment you thought about it. There might as well have been a sign saying 'this floor has never been washed'. The sink just drains onto the floor and then goes into a corner drain (the one I cleaned out). So all the dirty water, toothpaste, soap etc sits on those pebbles and there was muck caught between them. If we had been there for longer, I would have removed the pebbles and scrubbed the floor with bleach, but I guess that's what shower shoes are for. Such a shame, as everything else was great (ooh, a few glasses would have been helpful, but there were mugs). So while we really enjoyed our stay, I did shudder everytime I went near the bathroom!

This was perfect for my family. It felt like staying in someone’s home. Beautifully decorated and lots of thought put into the room, with bespoke furniture. Nice restaurants nearby and a National Park!

What’s not to like!
