    I recently booked a family room for 4 adults at RS Hotel Desa Cemerlang via Agoda, trusting that the platform and the hotel would deliver what was advertised – comfort, hospitality, and professionalism. Unfortunately, what we received was far from it. The booking clearly stated it was for 4 adults, and though the room description mentioned 1 double bed and 1 single bed, I reasonably assumed that, for 4 adults, the hotel would ensure appropriate bedding arrangements. At check-in, to my surprise, the room only had 1 queen-sized bed and 1 single bed. Even more concerning was the fact that only 3 towels were provided for 4 paying adults. When I approached the front desk politely to request just one extra towel, I was shocked by their dismissive and unprofessional response: “You need to contact Agoda.” I expected better – not a deflection of responsibility. I then contacted Agoda, who initially passed the matter back to the hotel, saying they have no control over hotel amenities. This raises a serious concern: Before a booking is confirmed, both Agoda and the hotel work together to secure the customer's money. But once the booking is confirmed and the customer faces a basic issue, suddenly no one is responsible. Why is this acceptable? After Agoda’s intervention, the hotel agreed to give me a towel – only if I paid RM50 for it. Yes, RM50 for a towel. I could have bought one for RM10 from a local store. Thankfully, Agoda offered to reimburse me, but that’s not the point. The damage was already done: RS Hotel displayed a complete lack of sincerity, empathy, and hospitality. Hotels must understand that hospitality is not just about selling rooms, but about serving people. If you accept a booking for 4 adults, provide for 4 adults – not just beds, but towels, comfort, and respect. And when a guest raises a basic request, respond with humility and a willingness to help, not with indifference or blame-shifting. This experience was not just inconvenient; it was a reflection of how a hotel can forget the human side of hospitality. I hope RS Hotel takes this feedback seriously and begins to retrain their staff to be sincere, professional, and people-oriented. Guests are not just numbers – they are people with expectations, dignity, and the right to be treated with care. And to Agoda – I thank you for eventually stepping in, but I urge you to do more in holding your hotel partners accountable. It’s time booking platforms move beyond being just middlemen, and start advocating for their customers from the start.
