Casa Lola

Great location. We have been owners at Dona Lola for 30 years but decided to take an extra break in October. We already knew the area and facilities, but this was a private apartment and we took a chance on something different rather than booking through MacDonalds Nicely decorated

When we arrived (after 3 pm) it was very obvious the apartment had not been cleaned as we were met with a large bag of smelly rubbish inside the front door. On further inspection there were signs that the previous occupants had departed without even attempting to tidy as things.such as a half full glass of water next to the bed, items in the bathroom and dirty dishes in the sink were all present. There was also washing left on the air dryer on the balcony. A call to the numbers supplied were unsuccessful so a message on booking.com was answered to say there had been a misunderstanding, and the cleaners would be there within the hour. We left the property and went to visit friends in the area only to receive a call from the cleaners saying they didn't have any keys to enter the property and could we return to let them in. Not the ideal start Some other points to note during our stay which have been discussed with the owner. The downstairs toilet was leaking and a puddle of water would appear around the base. We eventually stopped using the downstairs toilet and used the one upstairs instead. The apartment had two power cuts whilst we were there. Both cuts happened during the night so we weren't using power or any appliances and only affected casa Lola as the adjoining buildings had power. The first time was a bit concerning as a loud computerised voice spoke during the night to tell us the fire alarm was going into standby by mode. You can imagine we woke up with quite a shock. On investigation I saw that the main fuse board had tripped. The balcony railing needs attention. The bottom fixing one one side has rusted and it's not attached to the floor anymore. There is also a lot of movement in the railing itself and I didn't feel comfortable being close to it given the large drop. Lastly, our last 3 nights were rather disturbed by some Spanish who were staying in the apartment block behind Casa Lola.

The property is modern, well furnished and I like the layout (bedrooms downstairs) which enhances the use of the balcony and the great sea view. The facilities on site are excellent. The pool and pool restaurant are very good with very friendly and efficient staff. Also on site is a well stocked mini market, plus several restaurants. A very good curry house, Thai, Italian, Argentinian steakhouse, burger bar, plus another drinking bar that has Guinness on draught. The property is a minute walk from a boardwalk that can take you to La Cala if you head left or the tidy Cocoa Beach marina if you head right. We will return for sure.

Het was superschoon, heel mooi ingericht, de locatie was top, we konden het eerst niet goed vinden vanaf de parkeerplaats, maar de eigenaar heeft ons via Facetime naar het appartement gebracht, het was achteraf maar een klein stukje. Uitzicht op zee, we hebben echt genoten.
