Era al terzo piano senza ascensore, la doccia era vecchia, non si chiudeva e non stava agganciata alla parete. Il condizionatore era attaccato al letto e sparava l’aria fredda su di noi. Le finestre non si chiudevano.

La struttura si trova in una posizione davvero eccellente, nel pieno centro storico di Palermo , sulla via principale, ideale per visitare la città a piedi. Nonostante la posizione centrale, è possibile trovare parcheggio nei dintorni con relativa facilità. La camera era molto accogliente, pulita e ben arredata. Il letto era nuovo e molto comodo, permettendoci di riposare benissimo. Anche il bagno era spazioso, ben organizzato e dotato di un’ampia doccia. Nel complesso è stata un’ottima esperienza: una struttura che consigliamo per la posizione, il comfort e l’ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo.

To begin, I would have given Mak House a higher rating if it were not for the lack of wifi. I understand that some may think not having this should not be such an issue, it was very inconvenient in my case. I would not have stayed there if I had known that wifi was not included or nonfunctional. I am not from an EU country so being able to use cell service to get online is not as easy, and having to do things on my laptop without wifi made it extremely frustrating. I had to walk down the street to use the free Comune di Palermo wifi to get online, or in certain restaurants. This was a hassle that did spoil some of my experience in Palermo. Very unfortunate, this wifi issue but I wanted to bring this up first so that potential guests at Mak House can decide if they want to deal with the inconvenience that I did not anticipate when I reserved. Having said that, I felt this guesthouse was good overall. It is in THE MIDDLE OF EVERYTHING one would want to see/visit in Palermo. The front door opens to a major pedestrian walkway (Via Maqueda) where you will find as many eateries as one could want, innumerable venders/stalls selling clothes, food, and whatnot, and it's very close to many of the tourist sites by feet. The location is great actually. However, understand that if you want peace and quiet, this is NOT the place. There is constant noise and buzz from 9am-3am any day of the week. I stayed 4 days and it was that way all for days. In terms of the building and room; I felt the building was secure despite its location, and the room was bigger than one gets in an Italian stay. Being on the 3rd floor gave nice air flow and people watching below. The A/C worked fine but I didn't use it. The bathroom was plenty big and shower was good. One strange thing about the bathroom was the nonmatching toilet seat, why?? See image. The building is almost 1km from train station, walking.

Not having wifi was much more inconvenient than the owner may believe. The owner did communicate with me well before I asked (repeatedly) about the wifi, but did not actually do anything about fixing it. It clearly states on Booking.com that there is wifi so to not provide that service is more than just deceiving, it's bad business practice. And the final insult is that the owner never apologized or thank me for staying in their establishment. That makes me wonder what the owner would do if there were a real emergency on the premise...
