Dalebrook Place

A lovely apartment in a perfect location. It had everything we needed for a wonderful week in Kalk Bay - including a desk and internet for a couple of days of teleworking, secure parking and a comfortable living area.

I didn't like the spammy emails from the property management company asking me to upload passports - this is not a requirement in South Africa, they have no right tp ask for it, and there is no guarantee that your data will be kept secure.

It was lovely to have the sun shining into the bedroom every morning even the middle of winter! The beds were also comfortable.

The communication with the hosts was slow and poor, whether through Booking.com or WhatsApp. A couple of damaged things in the kitchen needed replacing and some missing dishwashing powder which I understand was supposed to be supplied so was unable to make use of the dishwasher provided.

Apartment was great, more than what we anticipated. Location was perfect.

Great location and coffee shop next door is great

Was charged a hidden “cleaning fee” of R1,300 and booking was non-refundable. Contacted the hosts to complain about this but there was no compromise or apology - blame was just passed on to Bookings.com and I had no option to cancel. Place was relatively clean but still found a bunch of hair in the toilet and spider web and dead bug in the kitchen… Rooms quite old so floors are uneven when walking around. The upstairs neighbours are very noisy and ceiling is quite thin, so you hear everything. Also hear plates and conversation from coffee shop next door from early in the morning. Bed quite hard. Shower is old too so takes a while to get the right temperature. No WiFi for the first day despite reaching out to hosts. Not sure I’d stay here again.
