Le Cloitre des Augustins 5 stars Spa & Fitness

We loved absolutely everything about this place and the owners/hosts (Patrice and Sabine)! THE PROPERTY: It's a hotel set in a beautifully restored, historic monastery with a lovely central courtyard garden. If it isn't already, the property should be placed on a ledger of historic buildings (and we believe it is) -- it is certainly marked, publicly, as a historic building. The rooms/suites are gorgeous -- both aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, and well-furnished and well-equipped. From the balcony of one of our two suites, we had a stunning view of the nearby old bell tower of the monastery. Yes, the clock does chime, and it's wonderfully transporting. Sit on the balcony with a glass of wine as the clock chimes. The location of the hotel is also unbeatable: right in the center of the old town of Avignon and across from the historic square which, among other things, hosts market day. (We saw a number of weekly outdoor markets in various towns in Provence: this was the best market.) The hotel is also within easy walking distance of all the tourist sights of Avignon and of some good restaurants and bars. Do stay at this hotel when you're in Avignon -- you will be glad you did. THE HOSTS: The hosts, Sabine and Patrice, are wonderful, kind and hospitable hosts. Their restoration of the property is an act of love, and it shows in every respect. They were incredibly accommodating and kind: e.g., they let us come a day earlier than we had booked, enabling us spend an extra night in Avignon. And, they allowed us to change our rooms shortly before arriving, giving us two suites for the price of one! Do ask them for restaurant suggestions: we had a great meal at a restaurant they recommended. Also, on our last evening, they invited us to share a delicious Provencal wine with them in the courtyard garden.

There was NOTHING to dislike. Everything about the hotel (including its location) and its hosts was perfect.

Notre séjour au Cloître des Augustins a été tout simplement magique ! Dès notre arrivée, nous avons été séduits par le cadre haut de gamme et l’accueil chaleureux et professionnel de Patrick. L’hôtel allie à la perfection le charme historique d’un ancien couvent du XIII e siècle et le confort moderne d’un établissement 5 étoiles. La localisation est idéale, en plein centre-ville, à deux pas du Palais des Papes et des sites incontournables, tout en offrant une oasis de calme dans son cloître intérieur. La suite etait magnifique, la décoration élégante, la literie ultra-confortable, et une attention aux détails qui fait toute la différence (peignoirs moelleux, produits de toilette haut de gamme…). Le petit-déjeuner est royal : Varié, frais, et servi dans un cadre apaisant et raffiné. Les confitures maison et les viennoiseries sont à tomber ! Le service est impeccable : Patrick est aux petits soins, toujours souriant et prêt à répondre à la moindre demande (conseils pour les visites, réservations de restaurants…). Nous repartons avec l’impression d’avoir vécu un moment hors du temps, dans un lieu où chaque détail est pensé pour le bien-être des clients. Un sans-faute qui mérite amplement ses 10/10. Nous reviendrons sans hésiter !
