Hampton Inn Long Island City NY

We had a good time at the hotel, very convenient for our family of four. The staff were excellent, particularly at the reception and the breakfast. Very responsive at any requests. The hotel itself, it is basic when it comes to facilities, but clean, and beds were very comfortable. The hotel provides breakfast for free, it is a basic breakfast but it is enough to start your day and the staff were making sure that everything was in order, clean on the spot and refill anything that was gone. The location in terms of distance to Manhattan and for traveling around e.g., to Brooklyn, major attractions etc., was very good, there is a subway station nearby to take you practically anywhere, and you are outside of the hassle of the main streets.

The location is not the best in terms of safety, especially at night. The streets are not well lit and the setting is very sketchy. There is usually a lot of police around because of that, but I wouldn’t recommend it for walking around alone. The hotel would benefit from sound proofing, from the outside as well as the inside. We could hear anything that was happening in the corridors and the adjacent rooms.

The staff at the property where friendly and kind. The room itself was clean and well kept. Ten breakfast was amazing, loved been able to make my own waffle.

The windows and doors are terrible and you can hear everything happening outside of them. The area is sketchy and I did not feel safe walking to and from the station with my husband, especially at night, there were police officers scattered about though. Would recommend taking a taxi to and from the station to wherever you need to go for safety.
