The owners are pleasant, kind, friendly and responsive. The area is friendly, lively and interesting, once you get used to the fact that it's a bit down at heel. And the metro station to take you to the coliseum and the Roman forum is literally round the corner so this is a good, reasonably-priced option if you're looking for a base for a few days' sightseeing in Rome.
It's a touch damp in winter and the boiler is on an outside wall so it cuts out once or twice a week and you have to ask the owner to relight it, which is a bit of a pain when you're hoping for a hot shower. There are mosquitos too so you'll need to buy one of those anti-mosquito plug-ins
