Newly, beautifully decorated rooms in a surprisingly large building with lots of lovely nooks, crannies and little courtyards. Everything was super clean and seemed new but was still classically decorated. Beds were comfortable, shower was great with lots of towels and hand soap and shampoo were supplied. Parking was easy outside. Be aware that the outside sign is obscured by bourgainvilla during the day and no number is supplied on the address but there is a sign at the corner. At night the sign is lit and that's when we saw it. Look for the ramp beside the steps.

We had some communication issues as we called on arrival twice and there was no answer. However there was someone there when I rang the bell of what I hoped was the right place. Despite saying that credit cards can be used, the machine was "broken". I get it. This is very common outside tourist areas but please just be honest and say "cash only".

Good location and comfortable and good heating in winter. Nice looking courtyard. Clean and good bathroom.

It was a small family room. The breakfast starts at 8am and unfortunately we had a tour starting at 8am. They could not accomodate an early breakfast so we didn’t get anything.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Tasty breakfast. Comfortable room.

WiFi was not available in the room.

Quiet and easy to find, easy walking distance to several places to eat around town. The family room consists of 2 rooms divided by a bathroom. The master has a queen bed and split system with a walled balcony we did not use, it has no windows. The other bedroom has 2 single beds, a bar fridge and only a column heater which makes heating the room take time and not sufficient. The windows have j lined curtains. The bathroom is small but serviceable - it has a walk in shower that does have some draining issues and the temp does surge a bit (meaning sometimes it’s very hot then it cools a bit) it has both a large overhead and a hand held shower head. The bathroom has its own wall heater but no extraction fan. The rooms are very quiet until the call to prayer as there is a loud speaker on the building next to it - it’s starts very early in the morning but not for long so we just managed to fall back asleep. Breakfast consists of a self serve table with a baguette (cut off what you want) boiled eggs, soft cheese, fresh dates, some kind of jam and date spread (like honey), and small tuna yoghurt. Tea and coffee in flasks. We had to regularly ask for the coffee to be refilled, extra eggs and more baguettes as other guests arrived and everyone helped themselves.

Paying for our room was problematic - the Eftpos machine was not working (does it ever ??) and the note at reception said we had to pay in cash and that they accept TND, Euro and USD. Our booking was in Euros (as had every other hotel) so we wanted to pay in Euros but were told we must take it to the bank and convert it because there is a fee to change money and they don’t want to pay that. I argued that both my booking says I would be charged in Euro and I could pay in Euro so why do I need to go find a bank after hours and also pay the fee. I should pay in the currency stated in the booking and also by their own notes printed at reception. Ultimately I paid in Euros after a bit of fuss. I found the reception woman to be unfriendly - it wasn’t that we only spoke English, every other hotel we have managed to communicate with Google translate or notes - she just seemed annoyed at us. Her manner did not improve as she topped up breakfast items when they ran out - she was never proactive in topping things up, people were always asking for more eggs or bread or the coffee had run out. We stayed 2 nights and the service was the same both mornings - half hearted as though she just didn’t want serve people. She works in hospitality, people save for holidays and pay money to have a good time and when a staff member appears unfriendly it affects their experience. It would have been nice for the breakfast room to serve as a help yourself coffee/tea station for guests throughout their day/evening also as there is no coffee/tea facilities in the rooms so I’m not sure why there is even a bar fridge ?
