About this apartment rental
Modern home with pool, beach & wildlife. Private gated 1 acre property, 3min walk to gorgeous sandy beach. Lounge by the pool, or walk the pristine beach. See sloths & monkeys on the path to beach, toucans. Surf, &nearby attractions. Restaurants & small stores close by. Chef Avail. Surf Dominical:15mn, Manuel Ant.Park: 22mn. 3hr from San Jose. Hospital 15 min away.

Matapalo is a tiny town, with a few small stores. Many of the locals have lived their for their entire lives, .
The beach is pristine, yet to be discovered by most travellers. Close by are the popular tourist destinations of Dominical, a quaint surf town, and Manuel Antonio, an internationally renowned Nature Reserve, known for its diverse wildlife and active restaurant and bar scene.
The local restaurants near Matapalo are small and delicious. A Private Chef service is available. The Caretaker Fatima can offer the contact information but it is a separate service not connected to the listing or house owners.
Our home is the only modern home in the neighbourhood, surrounded by simple Costa Rican homes. The home is complete with a pool, A/C (you will appreciate this in Costa Rica!), full size washer & Dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, coffee maker, blender, etc... The bathrooms are equipped with luxurious rain showers. You will experience luxury in jungle and ocean surroundings .
Our caretaker Fatima, Junior and their child (please don`t speed on the property) live in a second home on the property near the front and will offer advice on the area show you the property and is very helpful to many aspects of your stay. She is very respectful of guests privacy.
The house is 200m from an undeveloped beach, accessed by a path between palm and mango trees teeming with nature, sometimes we see sloths, monkeys and iguanas. Guests have reported seeing Capuchin monkeys, iguanas, sloths, toucans and a huge variety of other birds in our yard, Fireflies light up the lawn in front of the house at night...
You can walk for hours on the beach encountering only a few locals net and line fishing.
Electric gated entrance operated by remote or keypad. After check-in you will be given a code or remote to open the gate as you arrive. A nice welcoming feature to make you feel at home.
You will have access to the entire home and property except for the small caretaker house near the entrance the property. The caretaker, Fatima, lives there with her husband (Junior), their toddler (Junior) and their dog (Spot).
Her english is quite good and she can help arrange tours, excursions or help you in any way to enjoy your stay.
My Co-host and property caretaker Fatima are always available.

(We saw almost more wildlife in our own area than in Manuel Antonio!)
The local restaurants near Matapalo are small and delicious. The nearest `large town` is Quepos, about a 20mn drive away. This is where you will find large supermarkets, pharmacies, clothing stores, hospital, clinic, dentist and so on.
We can offer contacts for airport transfers for you to arrange but do not take responsibility for these outside services.
There is local bus that goes right by the town.
We recommend renting a car (or even a 4x4) so you can explore the area. There is ample parking on the property in front of the house.
We are beautifying the grounds with flowering plants, trees, and bushes. Fatima will ask your permission if workers are needed on the property unless emergency situations arise.
The property is secured by a fence and locked gate.

What a great place to wind down and enjoy the simplicities of life. Spacious, clean and peaceful spot away from tourist traps. Our family enjoyed this 3rd part of our trip best after Manuel Antonio and La Fortuna. We also really appreciate accommodating our early checkin and late checkout because that is an exception not always able to grant.

If you are looking for a safe home in this area 2 min walking to beach you have found it. It is VERY close to a family friendly beach. The backyard is a dream for kiddos! Fatima is ON TOP of everything and anything you need, questions you have, safety info and more. It was a joy to be hosted by her and her son Jr. was so much fun!

This place has all you need to enjoy your vacation along the southern coast of Costa Rica. Very clean inside, nice bathrooms, good AC, great kitchen and swimming in the pool each morning is a perfect way to start your day. The beach is a short walk from the house. A grocery store and restaurant is also a short walk. One morning we were treated to about a dozen monkeys jumping through the trees. It’s also a short drive to Quepos, Dominical to surf, and Uvita to see waterfalls or go zip lining. We highly recommend this lovely home.

We stayed at this place for over a week. The best part to this place was Fatima who lived on the property. She was always there to help. The owner was very responsive when we first inquired about the property.Things that went wrong:1. Dryer did not work2. Lights flickered in all rooms including the fridge3. Landscape was not well maintained. Ants crawling everywhere which made it hard to walk on the grass. There was dog poop in certain areas of the backyard and the area smelled on pee.4. Pool area had stone breaking off- which cut my foot. Slide was not well managed.5. House was not stocked with necessities, especially for people renting the place for more than 3 days.My recommendation to owner is to do a bit of cleanup of the property and pool area. Check on all the appliances in the house. We could not even use the oven.None the less, location was great.
