Plaza Gibaja is a gem. Very conveniently located and well-designed, it might be the best accommodation in Ollantaytambo. I've stayed in half a dozen places in town. The rooms are well-designed with good lighting and electrical outlets everywhere. There's even a portable heater which I didn't need, probably because the building's construction and windows are of very high quality. The bathroom is well-planned, including oversized towels and a wonderful shower with plenty of hot water. When it comes to hotel staff, one hopes for friendly, kind, and competent. Kriss is all of this and more. She seemed to anticipate and fulfill my every need. Throughout the hotel, there's interesting information about local history. This made sense after I learned that the owner, Dr. Gibaja, is a Peruvian archaeologist and author. I can't wait to return when my niece visits me in a few weeks! Five stars.

We chose this hotel based on its location and reviews. Unfortunately, we found tiny bits of hair on the duvet cover and hair on the shower floor, and the tap in the sink was difficult to use. As we were only staying overnight, we didn’t raise these issues with reception. Additionally, if you’ve booked a room rate in a currency other than Sol, be sure to bring the exact cash amount; otherwise, you’ll be charged in Sol (at the hotel’s conversion rate) plus an extra 5% for card payments.
