Hostel Dumah - expo zona norte-SP

I had a meaningful and pleasant stay at Hostel Dumah, located in the peaceful Jardim Paulista neighborhood of São Paulo. One of the most remarkable aspects of the hostel is the genuine kindness of the host, Mr. Saraiva, who treats guests with care and respect. Some staff members were also friendly and helpful. The cleanliness is excellent, and the bathrooms are accessible and well maintained, providing a comfortable experience. The hostel has a subtle Jewish-Israeli cultural influence, and I noticed a welcoming and tolerant atmosphere toward Israelis, Jews, Evangelicals, and spiritual-minded guests. It promotes peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, which aligns well with humanitarian and faith-based values. The neighborhood is upper-middle-class and feels very safe — I often saw people walking around calmly with their phones, something that’s quite rare in many Brazilian cities. That sense of security truly enhances the overall experience.

However, there are some downsides worth mentioning. The Wi-Fi is unstable and frequently disconnects, which makes it challenging for digital nomads or anyone who needs a reliable internet connection. Additionally, the kitchen area is poorly equipped: there is no air fryer, the oven doesn’t work, few utensils are available, and there's no proper space for meals. If you're planning to cook to save money, this may be an issue — especially since restaurants in the area tend to be expensive. The rooms are crowded with bunk beds, leaving very limited space to move around, which can affect comfort. In summary, Hostel Dumah stands out for its hospitality, cleanliness, spiritual openness, and safe location, but it would greatly benefit from improving the internet connection, kitchen facilities, and room layout — especially for long-term travelers or those working remotely.
