About this cabin rental

This is an off-grid cabin, not a hotel.

Hidden only 8 miles off the highway, in the Montana woods beside a flowing creek, this handcrafted log cabin is a true off-grid retreat for people who want to unplug from modern life and settle into something simpler, quieter, and real. Surrounded by aspens, snow, and wildlife, this is a place where mornings are slow, nights are dark, and nature sets the pace.

It is peaceful.
It is beautiful.
And it is not effortless luxury.

This cabin runs on sun, fire, and self-reliance. Power comes from solar (with a generator backup). Heat comes from a wood stove. The toilet is composting. Comfort here comes from understanding how off-grid living works — or being excited to learn.

Important winter note:
The shower is winterized and not available during cold months. If a daily hot shower is a deal-breaker, this is not the place for you. Many guests use no-rinse options or simply warm water on the stove for a washcloth bath — it works great and fits the off-grid rhythm just fine.

If the idea of starting a fire, managing power usage, driving a dirt road, or adapting to simple systems gives you pause, this cabin is probably not a good fit — and that’s okay.

But if you know what “off-grid” means, or you’ve been craving an authentic experience where modern distractions fall away, this place is magic.

Wake up to the sound of the creek just steps from the porch. Make coffee while snow drifts silently through the trees. Watch wildlife pass through the aspens. Read, nap, cook, wander, and unplug. At night, the stars are endless and the quiet is complete. Many guests say they’ve never slept better — and many never want to leave.

Please read before booking:

Access is via a dirt road; Plowed to 1/2 mile from the cabin after that AWD/4WD is strongly recommended in winter but some cars make it fine

Solar power means mindful energy use (the sun is the power source)

Guests must be comfortable operating a wood stove and generator

Composting toilet (simple, clean, and odor-free when used correctly)

No winter shower — sponge baths or no-rinse options are the norm

No hotel services, no front desk, no instant fixes — just you and the woods

This cabin is for adventurers, couples, creatives, writers, outdoors-people, and anyone craving real solitude. It is not for guests expecting hotel amenities, constant electricity, or paved roads.

If this excites you, you’re exactly who this cabin is for.
