Warm and friendly, like a hug. Delicious food. Great beers. Super friendly staff. Very comfortable bedroom.

It wasn’t a big deal at all because we had to get to bed early, but we could hear the band playing. Honestly, I think this was just us most people would love it!

We had the most incredible stay at Y Gwydyr Hotel, Dolwyddelan, and we honestly cannot thank everyone enough. From the moment we arrived, we were met with the biggest, warmest welcome from both the staff and the customers in the pub. After hearing that we had been stuck on our way to the hotel — and had almost ended up spending the night in the mountains — they greeted us with hugs and genuine care. It meant more to us than words can say. Even though it was late, the team kindly extended last orders to make sure we had a proper meal, knowing we hadn’t eaten yet as we were rushing to catch the train to the nearby station. That level of kindness and thoughtfulness is rare and unforgettable. We are backpacking, and this is our 7th accommodation, but this place truly stands out. The atmosphere, the people, the pub, and the hospitality made us feel safe, welcome, and completely at home. This isn’t just a hotel with a pub — it’s a place filled with heart. We will remember this stay forever and would recommend Y Gwydyr Hotel to absolutely anyone passing through Dolwyddelan. Thank you all for turning a stressful day into such a beautiful experience. ❤️

Our one regret was not having the chance to try the legendary breakfast we’d read so much about in the reviews.

First, the staff. Then all the rest: the room, the house, the place, and coming back to the people who were very very friendly at the pub.

It’s a great local pub at the foothills with some amazing walks. We were there as a large group to celebrate a birthday and the owners are so hospitable. The room was newly decorated and clean with little small touches that gave it personality. The room was at the front of the property which is on the main road but it was incredibly quiet also.

I prefer cotton sheets and duvet covers but it is such a tiny thing because the bed was comfy and I slept really well.

The property in lovely location. Staff very friendly made you feel comfortable. Rooms clean and tidy. Dining. Good food, and local beers. Good nights sleep very quiet.
