About this house rental
Welcome to Bear Ridge Retreat, a pristine and spacious 5BR home in the heart of Wintergreen. You'll love the open floor plan and vaulted ceilings of the main living area, with plenty of space for multiple families to spread out. The lower level features an add'l living space with TV area, pool table, and wet bar. With 5 bedrooms (4 with kings), the house sleeps 12 comfortably. HOT TUB is coming Feb 2025! Managed by Chris at New School Hosting. Plus, pet friendly!
There's a ton to do in the area! Bear Ridge Retreat is about a mile to the ski slopes and a few minutes’ drive to all the dining, attractions, and hiking at Wintergreen. If you’re willing to venture a bit further, some of the best hiking trails in the state are off the Blue Ridge Parkway (15 minutes from the house), and there are over dozen wineries, breweries, and distilleries within a 30 minute drive. During the summer, enjoy Sherando Lake and Lake Monocan with sandy beach entrances, or take a dip in the heated community pool.
The home layout is as follows:
Upper level:
- Living room with working propane fireplace and big screen TV
- Dining area for 10, plus room for 4 more at the kitchen bar
- Fully stocked kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances
- BR 1: Primary bedroom with king bed and deck access. Ensuite bathroom features double vanity, soaker tub, and gorgeous tile shower
- BR 2: King bedroom with deck access
- BR 3: Bunk bedroom with 2 sets of twin-over-twin bunks, also with deck access
- Hall full bath with tiled shower/tub combo
- Upper deck features comfortable seating area around propane fire table (propane provided), dining table and chairs, and gas grill
Lower level:
- Second living room / game room with smart TV, pool table, wet bar, and arcade machine
- BR 4: King bedroom with deck access
- BR 5: King bedroom with deck access
- Hall full bath with tiled shower/tub combo
- Laundry room with full size washer and dryer
- Lower patio with sitting area. Hot tub expected by Feb 2025!
Other things to note:
- Bear Ridge Retreat is pet friendly! We accept up to 2 dogs for a $100 flat fee.
- Wintergreen offers hiking, skiing, snowboarding, tubing, swimming, dining, spa, ropes course, golfing, and much more.
- There is plenty of parking in the large, flat driveway
- Wifi is fast with a strong signal throughout the house and decks. All bedrooms, plus the living room and game room, feature smart TVs where you can access all the main streaming services.
- We provide a fully stocked coffee bar with multiple coffee drip and Keurig options
- Linens and towels provided
- Guests can enjoy free community pool access in the summer season (though the HOA rules stipulate no more than 6 guests at a time, and the permitted hours are 2-6pm).
- Pack n play and high chair provided
- The property is not pet friendly, but note that owners occasionally bring their dog so we don't recommend the property for guests with severe allergies.
- We do require a separate rental agreement, which we will send a link to e-sign after you book. There are no additional fees beyond those listed here.
- Please note that if you would like to send packages to the property, you do so at your own risk. USPS is particularly unreliable. We can not be held responsible for late or undelivered packages. Additionally, we charge $25 for any return services requested, in additional to actual postage.
Tips for a Happy Hot Tub
- Be sure to unclip the hot tub cover before removing it.
- Please do not put anything besides people in the hot tub (like mulch or toys).
- If the water level doesn’t cover the jets, you can use the hose to add water. Please disconnect the hose when done, especially in cold weather when it could freeze.
- Always put the cover on the hot tub when not in use - this keeps the hot tub warm & filled with water. Using the plastic clips helps keep it from blowing off.
- For safety reasons, please don’t add chemicals to the hot tub yourself. If the water looks murky or has a smell, let us know, and we'll have our hot tub expert come by to treat it.
- Do not drain the hot tub.
- There's no need to turn off the hot tub. It may run the jets on low periodically to circulate water through the filter—that’s totally normal.
- Use plastic drinkware around the hot tub.

Wonderful House. The house was very clean, which is on the top of my list for rentals. You could tell that the entire home was well taken care of. We were just a group of 4 ladies because we wanted the luxury of individual rooms but this house can easily accommodate multiple families with plenty of room to spread out in the upstairs and downstairs. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and well laid out, making it easy to find everything you needed. The owner was great at having extras in the house such as ample toilet paper for our 4 day stay, hair dryers, coffee pods, dish soap, bath soap, shampoo/conditioner, plenty of towels/linens, beach towels, blankets & a nice welcome basket of snacks. All these things go a long way in making a stay more pleasant. I travel extensively nearby & internationally staying in many condos/hotels & air b&b's and would highly recommend this rental.

Spacious and clean house with good amenities. Kitchen is well stocked (Crockpot, good knives, sliverware, cast iron skillet, InstantPot, etc). Gates for blocking stairs installed on top and bottom floors and high chair/booster seat as well as kids plates/table/chairs/toys for little ones. Pacman game was fun and Smart Tvs on both floors with good wifi. Driveway will fit a number of cars. Drive to main was 2 minutes. The Edge restaurant was good on Saturday, with live music and lots of accommodations for celiac guest. The Market near by had good options for food, beer, wine but was a little pricey as expected.

Family bonding time with husband, son, daughter-in-law and two grand boys. The home was spotless - open with wonderful views. Everything we needed was at our fingertips - even pencils for games and flashlights throughout the house. Location is great - close to the slopes and snow tubing. We will return to try the snow tubing! Perfect winter break!
