The residence was built by my 100 year gentleman that is why we rent it. I manage a vacation rental. And we stay in a lot of them when we travel all over the world.
The house on Eckerman Rd. has new paint and carpet and is pretty well maintained inside.
The outside has no curb appeal, weeds in all the rocks, the roof shingles are in bad shape and there are a couple evident leaks, there is lichen moss growth all over the house sliding, the windows were so dirty we could barely see outside (I needed to clean the upper slider), and the deck needed a sealer on it. Inside there were cheap curtains that don't work, rips in the pull down shades, stains on the lazy boy, dirty fingerprints on the doors,
Dirt, bugs, and leaves in the slider tracks. Dusty window sills.
We did dishes by hand, there was no pods for the dishwasher. Twin bed main floor needs a mattress cover.
The decor was not appealing... It looked liked someone went down to the 5 and dime to decorate. The chairs downstairs were all worn out. The bistro table was to high for some people, and was stained by hot plates.
On the positive side it was well stocked with clean pots and pans, dishes, glasses, and utensils. The was some coffee and a pot there, spices (the salt was empty), bedding was Ok... Sheets were a little cheap. Bedding was clean and made well. Charging cords a plus. Pen and paper a plus.
TV's were great...but couldn't get local channels(One of the remotes had dead batteries). The large sectional was nice.
I expected a little more for over 1000.00 for 3 nights. The renters for my rental check in at
3:00 and check out at 11:00. 4 hours to clean between. If they can't clean it in 4 hours there is an extra charge. Most people are cheap and will pickup after themselves. 250.00 to clean and stock is outrageous. We left it better than we found it.
My gentleman loved his cottage. He still loves his cottage. I said none of this to him.
To him he saw only the place he loved. Would he come back? Yes, he loves it so much! Would I come back? It has good bones, but needs more attention for that kind of money. If my gentleman makes it to next summer we will be back. It is where his heart is.
