Cedar Lodge

We loved the close proximity to Bowness and layout of the lodge. It was very clean and decorated to a very high standard. Lovely products in the bathrooms and we loved the coffee station in the kitchen.

We were three towels short and one of the sofa beds had not been made up. There was also no linen provided or available within the lodge for us to make the bed ourselves. The number of guests staying was exactly as originally booked. We had simply chosen not to use the top bunk beds and therefore some people arranged to share rooms and sleep together for various reasons. As we were paying for the lodge in its entirety rather than on a per-person basis, we would reasonably have expected all available beds to be prepared and available for use. I messaged regarding the missing bedding and towels, as we were already short of three bath towels, but my messages were not responded to beyond being asked how many people were staying. One of the ladies who had no linen subsequently contacted the lodge owner directly to request it and was asked whether we were having a party and how many guests were present, despite the booking being for the correct number of people. I then received a message through Booking.com advising that the additional towels and bedding would be brought the following day. However, someone unexpectedly arrived at approximately 8pm that evening with the towels and bedding. Our concern is that, had someone needed to use the additional bed unexpectedly, for example, if someone had become ill or a child had wet the bed, there would have been no spare bedding available within the lodge. As we had hired the entire lodge and all beds formed part of the accommodation, we feel it would have been reasonable for all available beds to have been made up and for sufficient towels and linen to have been provided from the outset. We also repeatedly smelt a very strong smell of cannabis from what we think was a neighbour. It came into the lodge and was overwhelming at times. We contacted the owner to ensure they didn’t think it was us.

The pictures don’t give the cottage justice it’s stunning inside. Spotlessly clean and in the perfect location.
