Can Roca

Grande disponibilità da parte della compagnia di noleggio Foravila, sempre disponibili 24/7 per assistenza in caso di bisogno sia prima che durante il nostro soggiorno. La casa tenuta molto bene, spaziosa e con posto auto per due vetture. Griglia all’aperto comodissima, la casa aveva tutti gli utensili necessari per ogni necessità, avendo bollitore, macchina del caffè, forno, lavastoviglie (anche se un po’ arrugginita) e grande varietà di pentole.

Piscina spesso sporca, all’interno della casa c’era una “guida all’uso” della casa nella quale c’era scritto che la piscina venisse pulita ogni 2 giorni, mentre nella realtà è stata pulita solo una volta in tutta la vacanza sotto nostra richiesta. Non è specificato dalle foto che il secondo bagno si trovi al di fuori della casa, quindi di fatto bisogna uscire di casa per raggiungere il secondo bagno, con una telecamera nel tragitto tra porta di ingresso e bagno; telecamere presenti anche in quasi tutti gli altri locali della casa, senza che venissero segnalate e senza che venisse comunicato se fossero utilizzate o meno.

La casa esta bien, es amplia, la piscina esta genial y tiene de todo para poder cocinar. En la entrada hay espacio de sobra para dejar el coche. Algo a destacar es que hay 3 toallas para cada persona (2 para el baño y una de playa) lo cual se agradece.

En cuanto a la casa la pega es que solo hay 2 tumbonas, y tiene capacidad para 9 personas. Para nuestra sorpresa el primer día sin previo aviso vino el jardinero a cortar el cesped mientras estábamos en la piscina, sobre esto nos informaron por whatsapp pero una vez que el jardinero ya habia venido. También nos indicaron que el propietario pasaria a recoger la basura cada 2 dias, lo cual no está mal pero creemos que se deberia de especificar claramente un dia y hora para tales tareas y que no aparezcan de repente. Otra cosa a tener en cuenta es que hay animales sueltos (gatos y gallinas) lo cual para nosotras tampoco fue un problema, no molestan en absoluto, pero creemos que se debería informar no de esto en la descripción de la casa.

The location was ideal for our purposes. I specifically selected Costitx as a central location to explore the entire island and we did just that! Access to major roads/highways was easy. Access to shopping (groceries) was a breeze. The narrow streets in the immediate area of Can Roca can be a challenge with a large rental car, but we managed and driving around there was quite fun! The finca is exceptional. It was very clean and comfortable, although the outdoor furniture cushions could be a bit larger/thicker for more comfort. We spent most of our time while at Can Roca, on the terrace (or in the pool). Dining outside for breakfast, lunch or dinner was simply amazing - the views are glorious. Sitting on the terrace in the evening listening to Spanish Guitar music (which is what we did every night until the wee hours) was simply breathtaking. Having our own roosters for an alarm clock (and yes, they cock-a-doodle-doo'd every single morning like clockwork, at around 5AM) was fantastic. It was like a symphony of noises in the early morning - roosters, geese, sheep (with bells around their necks) and the neighbouring fincas with their own animals... it was so much fun and we welcomed the sounds every morning. The grounds are immaculately maintained and given the location (out in the middle of nowhere), it's simply amazing. It's better kept than my own house in Canada! A small orchard of lemon and lime trees (which we used!) and a few glorious gardens with beautiful flowers, cacti and other interesting plants. We even used the outdoor oven (BBQ) for a wonderful dinner one night! The infinity pool... is amazing. Simply gazing out across the fields to the mountains while floating in the warm water makes me wish that we booked another 2 weeks at Can Roca! The pool was always exceptionally clean - the water was always crystal clear and invitingly warm. Sure, we had to scoop out the odd beetle each morning, but that's OK!

Garbage management - There's 4 receptacles in the house - green, yellow, blue and black. We were only provided 1 bag for each of the 4 containers - all bags provided were purple! We were also told to put full bags into the yellow bin outside in the shed. What I didn't understand (and still don't) is why were we separating the recycling when everything was ending up in the same bin... in the same coloured bags? Why weren't we provided with colour coded bags? Why did we only receive 1 bag for each container? Dishwasher - we were only given 2 soap tabs... we had to go buy more since we ran the washer everyday. This is an inconvenience and should be included in the costs... I'm quite sure that we left a half-used box of tabs behind as did the people who rented the finca before us and the same as the people who will rent the finca after us. What do you do with all of the left-over tabs? Why not simply include a box of tabs to ensure that we can wash dishes each night? I think that's a bit petty... same with the trash bags - sorry. On that note, we also ran out of toilet paper - on day 2! There were only 2 rolls per bathroom... again, this is a bit petty. Provide enough spare rolls for the duration of our visit! Outdoor cooking/BBQ - there's a large wood pile next to the shed that is locked up tight. Why? There were even 2 bags of charcoal in the lockup. Why? We were then forced to buy our own charcoal... again, this is petty. We only had 1 BBQ and managed to scrounge up enough wood for a fire, but that was silly. It would have been much better if you simply provided access to your wood pile and charcoal. Maintenance - I understand that regular maintenance is required, but when we arrive back from a morning of shopping or beaching to find that your maintenance worker is there doing work, it's a bit unsettling. Provide us with a defined schedule of when they'll be there so that we're not surprised to find them there. ...
