Casitas Merida

A handsome couple with a calm and welcoming energy welcomed me to the hotel. My room was gorgeous and well cared for. The layout is wonderfully designed with a spacious bed/living area, functional and useful kitchen, clean water on tap to enjoy and a well designed bathroom. I had a wonderful 8 days here; I would have stayed longer if I had the option to cancel my next booking. The walk to town was around 25-30 mins. I enjoy the exercise so it wasn't an issue for me. Since the room has its own kitchen, you can cook but the main supermarket is in town. A solution offered was uber eats delivery of shopping. The hosts offered (more than once) to order food. I decided to tour the main town and found the supermarket myself which introduced me to local prices and an outdoor market. I did get a cab/taxi on occassion; it fairly cheap for a backpacker; they found the address easily so no drama there if you want to enjoy a night out or forgo carrying your shopping back to the hotel. The couple are very knowledgable and super helpful; sharing interesting things to do, local places to eat, best tour options. They even helped me to do my own travel tour to Santa Barbara using the local Collectivo service which saved me 90% of my travel costs for that day! (around £90 saving). On my departure date, William (one of the hosts) accompanied me and carried one of my pieces of lugguge to my next hotel which was very very kind. They shared other free local events I could attend of an evening including the historic Mayan ball game and independance day event in town. I enjoyed the outdoor pool and just chatting about the hosts experiences, the history of Merida, fossils found in their back garden among other interesting things. They do own several docile cats that mostly stay in their home and a lively, young, sweet dog who wants to play all day.

I don't enjoy using codes to unlock gates or lock boxes to retrive keys but the process wasn't too bad. I was grateful one of the hosts was available when I arrived. The entrance to the guest doors is on a different road from the main address. If you are using a cab service as a visitor for the first time in the area, you literally need to walk around the corner. The road system is American based where they use blocks and Calle (road) numbers to determine a location. I'm British so I struggled a bit with that - the cab driver charged me more because I couldnt locate the side entrance.

Les Casitas sont formidables! Superbe déco et tout ce qu'il faut dans la cuisine pour cuisiner un bon repas, ils ont pensé à tout!!

Uno de los mejores alojamientos en los que hemos estado (en el mundo), definitivamente, el mejor de México. El diseño de la casita, del patio y de la piscina es exquisito. Los anfitriones, William y Tariq, son son super amables y siempre estuvieron dispuestos a resolver cualquier duda. La casita tiene todo lo necesario para pasar una estancia cómoda y sin privaciones. Disfrutamos de la pileta y del patio todo lo que pudimos. Chuk es un amor jeje. Han hecho de nuestra estancia en Mérida una experiencia fenomenal.

Very nice casita with everything you could need for a longer stay. We really appreciated having access to the washing machine and dryer, which was a huge plus, especially for a longer trip. The casita was also very clean and comfortable.

The location isn’t super central, but this wasn’t an issue for us at all. An Uber to the centre was only around £2 so it was very affordable and easy to get around. That said, if you prefer to be within walking distance of the centre, this might be something to consider.
