Charming Guest House in Amazing Exeter Location

Fantastic location particularly for a woman on her own. Everywhere was walkable. Beautiful accommodation and just as shown in the pictures. Home from home.

Living room sofa was a sofa bed and not that comfortable as a sofa! TV unable to tune to terrestrial television - it’s fine for Netflix Parking - on road restrictions and off road parking was super tight / small space

Great location close to some great shops and bars and 5-10 walk into the city or down to the river. The apartment was clean with good quality towels and bedding and the kitchen was well equipped for a short stay.

Communication about access was out of date and the lock box was not where we were told. LOTS of noise from the flat upstairs throughout our stay. This was clearly not the host’s fault, but definitely affected our stay.

The property is in a fantastic location, close to the city centre, a gorgeous strip of shops and it was very clean.

Honestly, I really hate to have to write negative reviews but I feel that going back and looking through othersmore thoroughly, the issues that we experienced have been raised before so the hosts are aware and have chosen not to act upon feedback. The biggest issue is that this property is marketed as with private parking. Now, it was mentioned in the check in message (more on that below) that the parking is tight. The parking is not just tight, it is impossible if you have anything other than a small car, I do not have a small car, but it is one of the most popular SUVs in the UK, so nothing crazy size-wise! I contacted the host to say that this was an issue and they recommended a car park close by. This car park, in total cost over £50 for our short stay - £19.70 per day. Car parks are expensive, that is true, but when I messaged the host back to express shock at the cost, this was the end of our exchange.... As a result of this unexpected cost, we then had to change our plans. Communication was also an issue, we recieved the check in information and it is clearly a copy and paste message that is now out-dated - the lock box isn't in the same place and there was no check in guide at all even though it was referenced. Small DIY issues - these really aren't a big deal, but need addressing. The toilet isn't properly secured to the bathroom floor and the front door is really quite difficult to lock. Overall, if the hosts were upfront about the parking and straight up just said that it isn't just tricky, some cars simply will not fit, then people have the choice to look for something else, or factor in the extra cost of parking. Communication just needs to be up to date and the little fixes done! It's such a great location, but due to the above, it just ended up not being worth the money and we left disappointed.
