Memories Hotel

De douche was fijn, het personeel heel vriendelijk. Het zijn ruime kamers.

De bedden waren aan de harde kant, maar het beddengoed was echt heerlijk zacht.

Camera molto grande per gli standard coreani. Frigorifero, tavolo e sedie in soggiorno. Bagno grande e dotato di vasca separata (e non è poco per fare la doccia ed evitare di allagare tutto).

Il personale non parla inglese ma in qualche modo si riesce a farsi capire. La posizione è accanto ad un ottimo mercato del pesce, non quello più famoso di Sokcho ma sicuramente più autentico. La vista mare è ostruita per metà da un palazzo.

This was a perfect small hotel. It was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved the general locality by the sea. We found the beds to be really comfortable and we were grateful for a lovely spacious room. We were away from the main beaches of Sokcho but this is why we liked it. I would say it is at quieter end of Sokcho. It is tucked away behind a 7-eleven and another hotel so not directly on the front, but you are a stones throw from the main promenade. This is a basic but very comfortable and clean hotel. The staff are very pleasant and accommodating. They can speak some English, but along with my lack of Korean we managed with the Papago app which allows conversation to be had and understood if there were any issues. There were restaurants nearby, but subject to your meal preferences you may need to travel a little further. After arriving by bus from Seoul we used taxis to travel around; taxis are incredibly cheap here (if you are travelling from the UK) and most fares are approx. £2 to travel in the immediate locality. The Sokcho Central market was a fabulous find - an incredible market with all manner of food and an abundance of atmosphere. We went here for 2 out of 3 of the nights for something to eat. The hotel was well located for the Seoraksan Mountains of which we enjoyed a hike and a trip up the cable car. We were heading to Busan and got a bus directly from the intercity bus station which is just a short(ish) walk/taxi ride away. The intercity buses are marvellous here and very comfortable. Please note, you do not need to go back to Seoul to get to Busan - which we had been told from several different sources. Sokcho was a wonderful break of which the Memories Hotel provided the opportunity for that: a very comfortable and peaceful break overall.
