    Located right beside a river, it was soothing to hear the waters at night as the sounds lull you to sleep. The staff were also very attentive and helpful and made our stay very pleasant. There was a visitor smoking that dampened the experience but it is not the hotel issue given its anti smoking policy - we were swiftly compensated with a free drink at dinner which we appreciated. The food during meal times were not bad but we were expecting more seasonal and fresh ingredients as well as a greater variety given the good reviews and price we were paying.

    We wanted to stay somewhere peaceful and in nature, and this hotel definitely is as it was in the national park and was very secluded and quaint. We also wanted a more traditional Japanese experience and this felt very authentic. The facilities are slightly basic but the staff are so sweet, the privacy and quiet was a great respite, and the food that was served breakfast and dinner was so generous, creative and special. A lot of effort was put into the service and it was a special experience

    This ryokan features delicious meals and a very hot public onsen with a cute rotenburo attached. They switch the men’s and women’s bath each morning and night so be sure to use it as much as possible. When we stayed there it seemed like the other guests didn’t take advantage of the onsen very much and we mostly had the place to ourselves.

    Fantastic well run ryokan with friendly and professional staff. Secluded and in the wilderness with lots of trails and nature surrounding it, only regret is not booking a longer stay to enjoy the tranquility of the area.
