THE YARD HOTEL BEIJING Tiananmen Square Qianmen

Location, location, location. The Yard is at the bottom of Qianmen street/metro stop, a few meters from Tiananmen square and you simply can’t beat this. Its right next to key cultural attractions such as Tiananmen and the forbidden city and some really nice restaurants. The facilities are great. The room we stayed in was spacious and confortable, had a great shower, so was the perfect base for nearly a week of intensive sightseeing in Beijing. Breakfast is not included but they have a deal with an (historical) place right around the corner which serves the tastiest dumplings and other local breakfast staples. You can use the washing machines to wash clothes.

If I have to make one comment, not at all the hotels’ responsibility, it’s just to make you aware that taxi drivers might take you systematically to the top of Qianmen street (8 minutes walk). This is annoying when you have bags but the hotel will explain where to ask drivers to drop you just across the street from the reception.

Fajna lokalizacja hotelu, idealny jako miejsce wypadowe na pobliską uliczkę handlową, idealne pod zwiedzanie placu Tienanmen czy też zakazanego miasta. Blisko stacja metra więc wszędzie można dojechać spod Hotelu. Pokoje czyste, w ramach opłaty za pokój była herbata, kawa, sok. Mimo że okna wychodziły na ruchliwą uliczkę nie było słychać hałasu.

Beautiful rooms

1. Noise in the room. Our room was next to a construction site. The hotel did give us another room after the first night, but it was much smaller. We felt a bit ripped off, as we had paid for the larger room. 2. Breakfast: When we booked breakfast, it turned out we weren't getting any, just food vouchers for a local restaurant, which we had to pay extra for on-site. This restaurant, however, wasn't geared towards Western tourists at all. We tried it twice but found it really unacceptable. The hotel did offer to refund the food vouchers for the remaining nights.
