The Cabin at Little Timbers

Very pretty situation in its setting.

It is one of two accommodation units accessed through a back gate to the owner’s garden - not exactly what we were expecting. The Cabin is a wooden garden building and clearly the poor relation of the two. No shower slip mat. Towel rail constantly falling off wall. One of the cups provided was chipped. None of the three blinds in the bedroom area reached the bottom of the doors/windows causing a loss of privacy. No fan provided or offered despite the internal temperature exceeding 30 degrees. Considering the income that the two units must generate, the two kitchen units were of an extremely poor standard with odd work surfaces, one with an exposed edge. Hot water intermittent from the bathroom hot tap. A problem with rats running behind and on the roof of the unit during the night and visibly running across the garden near to the outside seating in the daytime. The owner did put a rat box with poison outside the unit as soon as I mentioned the problem to the gardener but this had no effect. We were not asked again about the problem and had no further contact with the owner. A rodent problem is unacceptable for a holiday let. Unlike all other holiday lets we have used, there was nothing by way of a welcome such as a bottle of milk. Touches such as that go a long way towards making guests feel welcome.
