Great location, 10 minute walk from the train station and close to all the markets and restaurants. Really comfortable apartment.

Perfect location in the old town of Aix en Provence, so walkable to markets, cafes, supermarket, & a short Uber ride to train station. If you want an authentic apartment stay in Aix, this is it. Homely, comfortable, I enjoyed buying market produce & having a kitchen to cook! Loved the space an apartment gave me instead of just an hotel room. Felt safe here as a solo traveller. Felt like a local for a week 😊

A few things needed attention - a couple of light bulbs not working, couldn't get shower head to stay in place on hook, no saucepan lids - mentioned these to host... 🤞 hope they fix for next guests 😊. It is noisy at night - earplugs were a help. Maybe some more instructions on finding the lightswitch downstairs would be useful for safety.

The apartment is really well located in the middle of where you want to be. It is in an old building, and the first impressions on the main floor are not great. However, the owner has done a good job making the flat as nice as possible with newer kitchen units, tasteful tiling, a nice shower, nice plates and bowls, etc. You can tell that attention and some money has been spent making the apartment nice. We appreciated the fluffy towels and throw blankets as well as having 2 sets of pillows to sleep with each. I also like the embossed wallpaper throughout and neutral palette - very tasteful. We loved the washing machine w/drying rack and the air conditioning as I am always hot when I sleep. It's also great having a microwave. We appreciated the nespresso pods too, merci. It's a very small space for 2 people as we knew it would be. It's better suited for a short stay for one young person or perhaps 2 backpackers in their 20s - not great for a well-travelled but older retired couple - lol. If you plan to rent the flat be sure to be there for the Saturday market as it was terrific.

The biggest downside was that the flat was very noisy in the evening, rendering it impossible to sleep. We had read the reviews and figured we would take our chances anyway, so that's on us. Beautiful Aix is a university town, and there is lots of noise from the students into the wee hours. This is often the price you pay for staying downtown, but this was noisier than other downtown flats we've rented in other French cities. There is also a terrible upstairs neighbour who likes to make lots of noise from midnight to 3AM dragging and moving large furniture items along the floor. There was also a lot of loud talking so they were quite rude and inconsiderate. And it is NOT the person immediately above making the noise, because I spoke to him about it. He said the upstairs neighbours (perhaps 3rd floor?) have always been extremely loud. It was truly impossible to sleep due to indoor and outdoor noise. It's also an awkward space in that the toilet is right at the front door, and you have to walk into the flat and around the bed to enter the shower and sink area. I also think the lighting could be a lot better, and I would add a box of tissues and a roll of paper towel as well as a drying rack for the dishes. I would lose the "birds nest" fixtures and replace with something that provides more light as the entire space is roughly 6 m x 6 m (perhaps smaller) but is a dark space. The AC unit blocks one of the 2 windows, so there is no light from that window at all. We didn't open the shutters on the other window as hoped it would block the noise (nope).
