A very spacious and bright apartment for two people, with separate kitchen and dressing room. Would be ideal for a couple looking to work remotely, as there was also good WiFi. It has been nicely re-furbished. Good check-in process from the host/manager, which included links to details of restaurants (we tried two, and they were very good) and places of interest. Great location on the edge of the old town. Very quiet.

There were a few small things that could be addressed: The plates and cutlery were very basic, which was at odds with the quality of the fittings in the apartment. The only glasses were small tumblers - not ideal for either wine or beer. There was no information “pack” - either within the apartment or in the link provided at check-in. Most Italian rentals are very particular on how to deal with refuse, for instance, and there was no information on this. Everyone mentions the stairs. Worth just mentioning - they aren’t like usual stairs. They are basically in an ancient monument. Very irregular in height. Charming in their way, but they could be a challenge for some who wouldn’t normally struggle with stairs. After our initial entry to the flat, when he responded to WhatsApps promptly, we didn’t hear from the host again - which we thought was a little unusual. Others have mentioned the problem with the external washing machine area being covered in pigeon poo. We had planned to use the machine, but did not, as the area was so badly soiled. The roof top terrace was a little scruffy. Early in the season, so probably not a consideration for the host- but we enjoyed the outside place. However, the chairs and table and floor area were a bit dirty.

The apartment itself is lovely with high vaulted ceilings. The heating worked well and kept the apartment warm even in the cold March weather. It is not in the center of town but close enough to everything that can be reached in 5 to 10 minutes. It was very quiet. Although the bed was comfortable, it creaked whenever my partner moved and woke us both up. This really should be fixed.

Unfortunately, we had several unfortunate incidents. Firstly, we arrived at the agreed upon time and the cleaners had not finished cleaning and we had to wait for 25 minutes outside in the wet and the cold. Upon entering and unpacking in the bathroom, the cabinet drawers fell apart and were unusable. We had problems with water pressure but most of the time it worked. We had a hard time connecting to wifi and the original information sheet did not have the password or network. I had to write several messages to get the correct information and to mention about the bathroom drawer. Unfortunately, the owner had a fever so I left him alone to rest, but it would have been nice if he had checked in the next day to see how things were going. We wanted to use the terrace but it was not cleaned and the chairs and tables were filled with cigarette butts and dirty water. The washing machine is in an outdoor space and pigeons sit in the space atop the washing machine so it gets covered in pigeon poop. Most of these issues are easily fixed. If they are fixed, I would say that this could be a nice place to stay while in beautiful Lecce.
