The house is beautifully setup, from the kitchen to the bathroom and bedrooms everything was really nice

Just two things. Stairs were really dangerous, we were travelling with little ones and that was a challenge for them. The other thing was that the kitchen and Bathroom at the back gets really cold.

It's a beautiful old building with great character, in a great location for the bars and shops around Collingwood/Abbotsford. The bedrooms were spacious, light filled and have heating, so they were warm and comfortable. The renovation overall looks great, modern and stylish. The bathroom was finished particularly nicely.

The renovation was beautiful but didn't always make it functional or comfortable. I don't want to be harsh because it really does look nice, but the problems were significant ones and we'd have liked to have known in advance. It might be fine for others though, just not us The stairs are ...harrowing. They are very steep, with narrow tread, and the balustrade bends a lot when you use it. Pictures really don't capture the perspective. The steps may be original but I don't think they'd be legal under building codes today. And since the bathrooms are on the ground floor while bedrooms are on the first, you have to go up and down them a lot in the night if you need to go to the toilet. I was travelling with a 77 year old so this was worrying, and it makes the house absolutely unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or injuries. We almost didn't stay because of this and I wouldn't have booked if I'd known. There is actually space available to fix these, and though I'm sure it wouldn't be cheap, it would probably still be cheaper than the lawsuit if someone falls. The kitchen, bathroom and lounge areas downstairs were absolutely freezing, making this part of the house nearly unusable. I think it's because it has a bathroom window that can never be closed and bare concrete floors that feel like ice. Also the owners requested that we keep shoes off inside the house, which was very uncomfortable even with thick socks. Replacing the window and adding a heater and/or flooring would go a long way here. Upstairs flooring was also unfinished. The renovation exposed and painted the original subfloor boards, which looks atmospheric but they were very rough and have massive gaps between them - one was so big that my phone fit down between them. Not a huge problem, but it just lacked polish which was a shame with a renovation of a character property.
